What you’ll coverAbout the courseOur Motorsport course has got a strongfocus on getting you a job and willprepare you for the real world of themotorsport industry. You're expected totake an active role in project work,whether it's designing superchargerapplications or building your owntelemetry equipment. We've also got agreat range of vehicles and systemsavailable for you to study, ranging fromracing motorcycles to dragsters.
How you’ll learnYou'll study in our state of the artworkshop complete with a rolling roaddynamometer, computerised set-upequipment and engine test facilities.You'll take part in live projects such as the‘Transformer Car’ created by ourstudents, which will be used byDerbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Your careerThis course will give you the confidenceand the skills you need to progress intothe international world of motorsport.Previous Derby graduates have gone onto find employment with companies likeCosworth, Zytec and EPM Technologies.They've gone from the University to raceall over the world and to working withinternational race teams in F1, GP2, FIA-GT and with a variety of national teams.
Additional informationThe key compulsory elements of thecourse include Advanced Power TrainEngineering, Motorsport Chassis Designand Dynamics and a variety of appliedmodules.
There are lots of events for you to get reallife experience at, including scrutineeringand marshalling training, exhibitions andrace meetings. The Le Mans 24-hour racehas also been on our social calendar forthe last six years.
You can also gain vital industryexperience with a work placementbetween stage two and three, which willalso give you the additional qualificationof the Diploma in Professional Practice.
If you don’t have the appropriatequalifications to study this course, youcan apply to study the TechnologyFoundation Programme for a year first.
