APPRENTICESHIP OF THE YEAR MOTOR TRANSPORT AWARDS 2017 Bringing in new blood to the transport industry has never been more important, and apprenticeships are an excellent way to recruit, train and retain young people. There is now a good range of apprenticeships for the logistics sector from driving goods vehicles to supply chain management that complement well-established schemes for workshop technicians. This award is for the company apprenticeship scheme that can demonstrate it is successfully attracting and retaining high quality recruits who are making a positive contribution to the business and wider industry. It is open to third party and own account transport and logistics operators running 11 or more commercial vehicles and companies associated with this sector such as vehicle manufacturers, rental and leasing firms, CV dealers and repair and maintenance workshops. Judges will be looking for: Well-structured apprenticeship schemes that meet the business’s needs; Strong take up of the apprenticeship programme; High retention and pass rates; A good rate of employment of apprentices once they have completed the scheme. Bringing in new blood to the transport industry has never been more important, and apprenticeships are an excellent way to recruit, train and retain young people. RULES FOR ENTRIES• Any product or service can only be entered in one category.

If the same or essentially similar entry is made in multiple categories, Motor Transport reserves the right to put it forward for judging only in the most appropriate category.

• Please read the guidelines on entry length and criteria for each award carefully – entries that do not comply will be marked down or rejected.

• Read carefully the description of the category you wish to enter. Most categories are only open to commercial vehicle operators – please check the category criteria to ensure you are eligible to enter.

• Read the top tips of what the judges are looking for (please refer to www.mtawards.co.uk for details).

• Explain in no more than 1,000 words why you deserve the Award: what you set out to do and what has been achieved. Do not exceed 1,000 words with your submission (appendices are excluded from this count).

• Provide supporting evidence that is clearly referenced in the entry.

• Complete an entry form using a new form for each category. Photocopies are acceptable.

• You will be informed if your entry has been shortlisted on 14 April 2017.

• If you wish to be present on the night of the Motor Transport Awards you must book places to attend.

TERMS & CONDITIONS: ENTRIES• Only UK companies are eligible to enter the Awards.

• Entries will not be returned to you unless you make acceptable arrangements with organising offi ce prior to the judging of the relevant entry. A return envelope with postage paid must be provided.

• Entries which have been entered in a previous MT Awards competition and have not been signifi cantly updated are not eligible for this year’s competition.

• The copyright of all materials assembled by the organisers of the competition will remain the property of the organiser and may be used for the purpose of publicising the Awards.

• All entrants must agree to publicity in respect to their entry both before and after the Awards presentation. Any confi dential data in the entry must be clearly highlighted as such and will not be published.

• The decision of the judges is fi nal and no correspondence on their decision will be entered into. By registering and completing an entry for the MT Awards you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

• Award winners may state in advertising/promotional activity and on their stationery that they are a winner but this must include the category and year.
