Dear Petroleum Engineering Graduate Admissions Representative, I was introduced into the world of petroleum engineering shortly after completing my first degree in mathematics. I always wanted to do something technical, yet couldn’t find my purpose. Upon graduating with my first degree, I actively started learning about the oil industry, networking among industry professionals, attending conferences, and looking for ways to enhance my academics and career. I determined that petroleum engineering is going to be my lifelong journey and now feel like I have gained the sense of purpose I was searching for. To start going in the right direction I decided to go back to college and earn a second bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. My experience while studying engineering was incredible: I confirmed that this choice is my true calling, and my academics improved significantly. I am glad to have completed a rigorous engineering and technical disciplines successfully, and having a degree in petroleum engineering feels unbelievable to me. During my discovery of the petroleum industry and science I realized there’s a lot of research going on and there is still so much that needs to be figured out and understood. In addition to that, the industry always faces challenges, both technical and economical, and it’s important to know how to adapt quickly at the different times so that it is sustainable no matter what outside factors affect it. I want the oil industry to thrive at all oil price points, and for that, we, the petroleum engineers, need to figure out ways of extracting oil and gas efficiently and with minimal costs.

Dear Petroleum Engineering Graduate Admissions Representative,

I was introduced into the world of petroleum engineering shortly after

completing my first degree in mathematics. I always wanted to do something

technical, yet couldn’t find my purpose. Upon graduating with my first degree, I

actively started learning about the oil industry, networking among industry

professionals, attending conferences, and looking for ways to enhance my

academics and career. I determined that petroleum engineering is going to be

my lifelong journey and now feel like I have gained the sense of purpose I was

searching for. To start going in the right direction I decided to go back to college

and earn a second bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. My experience

while studying engineering was incredible: I confirmed that this choice is my true

calling, and my academics improved significantly. I am glad to have completed a

rigorous engineering and technical disciplines successfully, and having a degree

in petroleum engineering feels unbelievable to me.

During my discovery of the petroleum industry and science I realized there’s

a lot of research going on and there is still so much that needs to be figured out

and understood. In addition to that, the industry always faces challenges, both

technical and economical, and it’s important to know how to adapt quickly at the

different times so that it is sustainable no matter what outside factors affect it. I

want the oil industry to thrive at all oil price points, and for that, we, the

petroleum engineers, need to figure out ways of extracting oil and gas efficiently

and with minimal costs.

I want to earn a graduate degree in order to further expand my research

into petroleum engineering. I want to be a part of the movement that would

solve the issues that are present in this industry and will bring it to a new level.

One of the areas I want to concentrate in is the increased efficiency of oil

recovery and minimizing the cost of operations by producing more from the

same field or increasing the efficiency of production, and also exploring new

techniques in petroleum operations. My goal after the graduate degree is to get

a hands-on, real-world experience in the oil companies, to learn the latest tools

and techniques, and to apply my knowledge to achieve the goals of a company

and the industry.

Feel free to contact me for any reason.

Sincerely
