St. Agnes Elementary School is Now Hiring

Kindergarten, Middle School Math and Language Arts Teachers For the 2020-2021 school year, St. Agnes Elementary School, in Bloomsdale, Missouri, is seeking three highly dynamic teachers who live

their Catholic Faith. St. Agnes Elementary School is committed to helping students discover the joy of learning and the joy of the Gospel, while building the skills and virtues necessary for success in today’s world.

Founded 140 years ago, St. Agnes School serves as the cornerstone of a tightly knit community, surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, lakes, wineries, with a rich German/French heritage of faith and family values. Candidates should have a passion for Catholic education and be familiar with VBRD (Virtue Based Restorative Discipline).

One opening is for a Kindergarten teacher.

A second opening is for an upper grade homeroom and 5th - 8th Grade Language Arts teacher. Teacher certification and a strong Language Arts background is required.

A third opening is for an upper grade homeroom and 5th - 8th Grade Mathematics teacher.

Teacher certification and strong mathematics skills are required.

Please send cover letter and resume to Fr. Michael Benz at [email protected] or

I will be on vacation from Monday, June 8 through Sunday, June 21. Deacon Jim has graciously agreed to hold Communion Services on weekdays, and we will have two visiting priests on the weekends. On June 13 and 14, I urge you to welcome Fr. Duplissey from Cross Catholic Outreach. He will hear confessions on Saturday afternoon, celebrate all the Sunday Masses, and talk to you about the important work that his ministry provides for the Church throughout the world. On the following week, please welcome Fr. Schneider back to St. Agnes and St. Lawrence as he celebrates the weekend sacraments for you.

Those of you who have contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal over the past few years should be getting your ACA Pledge Card by mail in the near future if you haven’t already. We know that this is a difficult time for everyone financially, but we also know that the need for the programs supported by the ACA are still important as ever. A lot of times, we respond to fund raising efforts without giving much thought to them. This year, however, is an opportunity to intentionally make a donation with a true spirit of generosity. These are the types of sacrifices that produce a hundredfold in return.

Please continue to pray for our parishioner Clayton Huck. Clayton has been accepted to Kenrick-Glennon Seminary beginning this Fall to discern a calling to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. We truly have a culture of vocations here in Bloomsdale and Lawrenceton. Let us pray for even more laborers for the harvest!

Dynamic Catholic, Alive! – Most Holy Trinity- The Triune God I have often heard priests tell me that this solemnity is one of the most difficult days in the liturgical year on which to preach a good homily. It is difficult to preach a homily on such a central mystery of our faith like the Trinity. What is essential to remember for all Catholics is to simply listen to the readings and each of the prayers today for the Mass. Within these texts we can find spiritual insights about the Trinity. For example, the preface for the Mass today provides a great summary of the Church’s teaching on the mystery of the Trinity: “For what you have revealed to us of your glory we believe equally of your Son and of the Holy Spirit, so that, in the confessing of the true and eternal Godhead, you might be adored in what is proper to each Person, their unity in substance, and their equality in majesty.” One God in three Persons is always there for us. archstl.org/dynamic

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” (John 3:16) Is your love conditional? Is there a price others have to pay to receive your love and

forgiveness? Are you generous with your time, skills, money, and possessions? If you give someone something, do you expect something in return? Do you give your time freely or do you “fit it in” when it’s convenient for you? God desires a personal relationship with us so much that He gave us His Son, unconditionally! Pray for a grateful and generous heart.

TO OUR LADY, HEALTH OF THE SICK

DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

O Mary, You shine continuously

on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,

who, at the Cross, united with Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman people,

know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that,

as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love,

to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us.

He who took our suffering upon Himself, and burdened Himself with our sorrows

to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection,

O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas — we who are put to the test —

and deliver us from every danger. O glorious and blessed Virgin.

—Pope Francis, March 11, 2020

GRACE AND ETERNAL LIFE Moses is a man after our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of stiff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all gotten a little stiff-necked ourselves at times? Complaining . . . impatient . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how lucky for all of us—that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. Accordingly, Moses does what we all need to do. Even with the tablets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s forgiveness and grace. Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when it comes to rejoicing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal life through Jesus. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
