A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS AND PRIESTLY VOCATIONS
Heavenly Father, please grant to Your faithful servants, the grace
and strength to carry out Your mission for the Church each
day.
Keep our priests close to You and continue to inspire them to serve
others in Your holy name. Please help to inspire men who are called
to a priestly vocation
to answer Your call and participate in the fullness that You have
planned for them.
Amen.
St. Agnes Parish is a Catholic Community of God’s People of the
Archdiocese of Miami located, in Key Biscayne, Florida, founded in
March 1954. We are a people of diverse backgrounds and ethnic
origins united by God, formed by the Gospels, strengthened by the
Sacraments and the teachings of the Catholic Church. We seek to
deepen our personal union with Jesus Christ and to grow as a faith
community. We seek to enrich our heritage of care and concern for
all by sharing God’s love and healing with the world around us.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, we pledge ourselves to pursue this
mission by participation in the liturgical, educational, and social
ministries of the Church. We recognize that to be effective, these
ministries require spiritual, physical, and financial resources and
we accept our responsibility as Christian Stewards to provide
them.

HUMOR CORNER Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people
in the world. There are those who wake up in the morning and say,
“Good morning, Lord,” and there are those who wake up in the
morning and say, “Good Lord, it’s morning”
MESSAGE FROM FATHER LUIS Dear Friends,
Two years have quickly gone by and its now time to say farewell. I,
first and foremost, thank Almighty God for having gifted with such
a wonderful opportunity to serve you. These two years have allowed
me to share with you the faith journey in growing closer to
Christ.
The news of my transfer comes with a flavor of bitter sweetness.
Sweet, because the confidence the Archbishop has placed on this
unworthy servant to minister to the faculty, staff, and students of
our colleges and universities. Bitter, because I will leave the
beautiful Island Paradise of Key Biscayne and I will no longer be
with such great people as yourselves.
I most certainly thank you for all your love, support, prayers, and
challenges. I hope and pray that you maintain me in your prayers
with the assurance that you will be in mine.
Please join me on the 1st of July at the 12:45 Mass and following
reception to bid thee a proper farewell.
With personal good wishes, I remain,
In Christ, Father Luis A. Rivero
PRAYER FOR PRIESTS O MY JESUS, I beg You on behalf of the whole
Church: Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit, and give power
to the words of priests, so that hardened hearts might be brought
to repentance and return to You.
Lord, give us holy priests; You yourself maintain them in holiness.
O divine and great High Priest, may the power of Your mercy
accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil's trap
and snares, which are continually being set for the souls of
priests.
May the power of Your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught
all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all
things.
I ask You, Jesus, for a special blessing and for light for the
priests before whom I will make my confessions throughout my
lifetime. Amen.

PRAYER FOR OUR NATION Gracious and loving God, we come to you in
humble prayer for the United States of America.
Bless our President. Give him wisdom and strength to serve the
American people and lead our country in ways that are pleasing to
You.
Bless our Congress. Instill in them knowledge and understanding to
enact laws that protect the sanctity of life- from the unborn to
the elderly; and promote the good of all people.
Bless the people of the United States. Make us aware of our
responsibility as citizens to uphold the principles of life,
liberty, justice and equality. Send your Holy Spirit upon our
beloved country. Make us people of faith in time of uncertainty.
Make us people of hope in times of trouble. Make us people of
compassion with those who are less fortunate. Make us people of
peace in our homes, our community, our country, and our
world.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Amen
FAREWELL TO FATHER LUIS A. RIVERO
After 2 years (2010-2012) in St. Agnes Parish, Father Luis A.
Rivero has been named Archdiocesan Director of Campus Ministry for
the Archdiocese of Miami with offices based at St. Thomas
University 16401 NW 37th Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33054, phone
(305) 628-6546 We are deeply sorry to lose Father Luis, who with so
much dedication, enthusiasm and responsibility has been ministering
here. Everyone – adults, youth and children – will greatly miss
him. We ask God that he may continue helping in his priestly
ministry. We are sure that this new pastoral experience will allow
him to know more persons, to whom he will transmit his enthusiasm
for living the Good News of Jesus.
This Sunday, July 1st, will be the last Sunday during his official
time among us. On that day, after the 12:45 p.m. Mass which he will
celebrate, at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Agnes Auditorium we will have a
farewell reception for him. Everyone is invited.
Sunday’s Message Mark 5: 21 - 43
THE CRACKED POT
A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on the ends
of a pole which he carried across his shoulders. One of the pots
had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always
delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from
the stream to the house, the
cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering
only one and a half pots full of water to his house. Of course, the
perfect pot was perfect for the task for which it was made, and
proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed
of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to
accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it
spoke to the water bearer one day by stream. “I am ashamed of
myself, and I want to apologize to you. I have been able to deliver
only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to
leak out all the way back to your house. Because of my flaws, you
have to do all of this work, and you don’t get full value from your
efforts,” the pot said.
The bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there were flowers
only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side?”
That’s because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted
flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk
back, you’ve watered them. For two years I have been able to pick
these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without your being
just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the
house.
Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We’re all cracked pots.
But it’s the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives
together interesting and rewarding. You’ve just got to take people
for what they are, and look for the good in them. Blessed are the
flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. Remember to
appreciate all the different people in your life! I’m so thankful
for all my crackpot friends! They are the flowers that decorate my
life!

PastorPastor’’s Notess Notes
Jesus said to the synagogue official: “Do not be afraid; just have
faith.” Not everyone who followed Jesus followed Him the same way.
Some followed through curiosity; others expected Him to solve their
problems; others to witness His spectacular miracles and actions.
The minority did so because they admired Him, respected Him and
believed in His person and His words. Jairus, an official of the
synagogue, and the woman who had suffered from severe bleeding
belonged to this last group. Two different persons, two different
worlds, but the same interest and a common emotional response. They
didn't press the Lord; they let Him breathe; they gave Him space.
Both knew that His word and His presence were a source of life.
They did not ask for more than what Jesus Himself had promised.
They were searching only for the fulfillment of the healing which
the Master had proclaimed. To approach another person, even to
touch him/her requires a certain freedom and naturalness, an
intimacy and friendship. The woman believed that it was sufficient
to touch only Jesus' cloak. In the case of Jairus' daughter,
prostrate and immobile, they were Jesus' hands which worked the
miracle of familiarity and love.
sólo a medias.

No

MENSAJE DEL PADRE LUIS Queridos amigos:
acercamiento a Cristo.
despedida. Mis mejores deseos y recuerdos.
Su hermano en Cristo, Father Luis A. Rivero
EL SEÑOR LLAMA A TODAS HORAS
Viniste a mi puerta con el alba. Y aún me enfadé, porque me habías
despertado, y no te hice caso y te fuiste. Viniste al mediodía
pidiendo agua. Yo me incomodé, porque estaba trabajando, y te
respondí de mal humor. Viniste anocheciendo con tus antorchas
llameantes.
Rabindranath Tagore
