Chapter One: The Meeting with the Goddess Morganna

Jarel O'Rhyah the Warlock The year was 1692 when people

who helped with the sick and illness

were considered witches, if theperson they cured became well. Myname is Jarel and I live in Salemalong with my twin brother Karel, my

witnessed many of our townspeopleburned at the stake,drowned and evenhung by the neck after being declaredas a witch by the Catholic church. I

am a warlock the male equivalent to awitch that practices magic with herbsand crystals. I have been a warlocksince the early age of 10.

My brother Karel was never intomagic,he always told me he didn't

believe in such things. His attentionwas drawn more into the pursuit ofthe opposite sex and drinking in thetown pub as often as he could manage

to go. Playing with the affections ofwomen was his specialty,he tookseveral women in his meager 25 yearsof age and would often joke at howeasily he could whisper sweet nothingsinto their ears and they would bedrooling at his feet for attention. Ohdear brother each woman has theirown uniqueness about them, almostlike the smell and taste of a very finewine he said on all too many occasionssmiling with his broadest smile. His

smile was no doubt the downfall of allhis female acquaintances, it most

definitely made them swoon and bendto his every whim. Needless to saymine and my brother's taste werequite different in our lives and what

I believe his choice of lifestyle washis downfall and what led to hisuntimely death on the night ofOctober 30th 1692. struck midnight. I hadn't noticed theblack carriage with black horses rightin front of the pub till it was toolate. I heard voices inside the

carriage but the interior was pitchblack I couldn't make out who wasinside.

Then the sound of my brother'svoice came to me and then the soundof a woman. There was something offabout her voice it almost had a jingleto it every time she spoke. Drawingcloser so I might be able to see Kareland the woman I crept closer to thestill carriage. To my horror I seen

She did though and looked directlyin my direction sending a chill up myspine despite there was no windblowing that night. I looked directlyat Karel about to speak when Inoticed he looked like he was

Karel to come to her he did andthat's when she opened her mouthwide and long white teeth came intomy sight. She then grabbed him so

hard and yanked him towards her asshe sunk her teeth into his extendedneck. The expression on his face atfirst was one of horror then it meltedinto ecstasy as if he was enjoying hersucking his blood. She then withdrewafter a few minutes of sucking hisneck with blood dripping from herteeth and her full plump lips. Thenshe used her index finger that had along deep red fingernail and raked itacross her exposed skin right above

her breast bringing a line of darkcrimson blood to well up to the

surface. The carriage then took offbefore I could open the door and yankhim out. I stared at he distantcarriage fearing the worst. Karel

didn't come home or hadn't been seenin almost two days. It was exactlyfour days later that one of thetownspeople came to our house toinform us that Karel's body had beenfound on the side of the road lying ina ditch. We all went to verify thatthe body was indeed Karel's. As mymother, father and little sister wastalking with the priest of the localcathedral I looked closely at the bodyand noticed two puncher holes in his

neck and made note that he looked asif he was sucked dry of his blood. He

was totally pale and very skinny,which wasn't how he had looked onlyfour days prior. The priest declaredhis death as some type of animal

attack but I knew better than thatand so did my family once I told themof what I had witnessed the night hewent missing. For all of our safety Irequested that the coffin he was tobe buried in have a cross burned intoit and that the priest say a prayerwith each nail that was placed intothe top to close the lid. Heunderstood and did as we requestedbecause I and my father stood in theroom after the service was over to

We all went out to the cemeterythat he was to be buried in and

watched as his wooden coffin wasplaced into the ground and dirt wasplaced on top of it. I stayed until hisgrave was completely covered before I

left the burial site to get home and tomy family.

grieved for the loss of their otherson, they didn't quite understand yetwhat he would become. I knew exactlywhat he would become, or I was

almost sure. He would become part ofthe undead, a vampire that fed off ofhuman blood to survive in the undeadworld and I promised myself that I

before he could hurt anyone. He wouldnever age, or die unless he got awooden stake plunged into his nonbeating heart. So I packed a few

things in a bag and went to thecemetery that very night and waited.I did not want my twin part of theundead world and I felt that it wasmy responsibility to take care of itsince I couldn't help him the night ofhis death. I stayed there a total ofthree nights without sleep trying tomake sure that if he did awake andcrawled out of the ground I would bethe one to put right what had beendone wrong to him. It was now

drawing on to the fourth night and Iwas tired of lack of sleep. So I told

myself that I would only close myeyes for a moment that I would hearif he started to come up from hisgrave. So I held onto the wooden

stake and hammer in my arms and feelinto a sleep I couldn't seem to wakeup from. I had a horrible nightmareof him hovering above my sleepingbody with crimson colored eyesstalking me as I slept ready to attackme at any moment. That was when Iawoke to the bright sun high withinthe sky. I looked around to check andsee if the grave was still undisturbedwhen I found that the earth had beenpushed out and the grave empty. I

memory of the dream I had that nightstill lingered in my head as I headedback home. I was still thinking aboutit when my family came running up to

me when they saw me walking towardsthe barn. They all thought that Iwas dead too because they hadn'tseen me in over four days. It was thisday that I knew what must be doneand that staying in Salem would onlybring trouble to my family so I toldmy family that it was time for me toget my own house so I could practicemy craft without putting them indanger. So I left my family in Salemand got all of my belongings attached

Chapter Two: The Visit From GoddessMorganna

It has been three whole yearssince the death of my brother. I amnow living in a little cottage on theoutskirts of the town of Quiliam so Ican practice my craft without beingdisturbed or focused on by the pryingeyes of the Catholic church. As I sitin front of my stone hearth fireplaceI open up my small cupboard of herbsand crystals and rummage around

trying desperately to find my scryingstone. I have been searching day and

night for my brother for over threeyears now to no avail. I know I mustfind him and release him from thefate that red headed demon placed

upon him. Finally finding the stone Iplace it to my eye and look through itchanting the same old chant I alwaysused when I was trying to find him.Still nothing, feeling flustered at notfinding what I have been seeking forso long I toss the stone into my frontpocket of my shirt. That's when avoice so soft and faint at firstwhispers into my head Take theherbs you have in your cupboard andmix them into your black cauldron.

Once you have them in the waterlet them come to a boil then take the

stone and soak it in the mixture for afortnight. Then on the next night ofthe full moon take the stone outsideand look through it. Only then will

you see what you have been seekingfor all this time the voice that toldhim this he knew was not his own, itwas as soft as a feather that mighthave been brushed across one's face.The voice was that of a woman,one that the had never heard beforetoday. So he did exactly as the voicehad instructed. He looked through allof his herbs and chose four herbs hewould use to make the mixture inwhich the stone was to be placed. He

maker the red headed demon who tookhim from us. I call upon the power ofthis herb known as Power to give methe strength to right what the onewho took my brother away from usand fight her for redemption. I callupon the power of this herb known asVengeance to help with taking downthe evil that has enveloped my undeadbrother and his maker. And last butnot least I call upon the mostpowerful of my herbs known as All

Seeing to aid me with the sight tofind where my brother and his maker

are located...SO MOTE IT BE!The chants that still echoed within

his head and the magic he used was sostrong that after the last herb hit

the already boiling water and the lastwords left his mouth a bright lightappeared and sizzling noise echoed allaround him. Then as if one by one theair changed colors from red, to green,to purple then lastly to a brilliant blueflash.

Jarel's cabin on the outskirts of the town of Quiliam

The smoke lingered in the littlecottage for a few minutes before it

drifted out of his open windowsleaving a lingering smell of thepowerful potion he just made. Afterthe sizzling stopped he placed the

stone into the pot and left it in thepot over a blazing fire under it forthe fortnight like the voice had toldhim. On the last night of the

fortnight he looked into the pot andnoticed that the stone was just barely

covered by the potion he had madetwo weeks prior. Although hiscauldron was quite big not puttingmore water into it and it continuing to

stay over the fire had evaporated thepotion considerably. Thank goodnessthis is the last night it must stay inthe pot or I would lose my stone fromit being in the hot kettle with nowater over it he got ready for bedknow that the fire was good for theremainder of the spell and knew thatin the morning the stone would beready.

The next morning he looked into hiscauldron and noticed that the water

was still at the exact same level as ithad been at when he went to bed the

night before so he heaved the hugepot off of the fire and waited acouple of hours before he stuck hishand inside to retrieve the stone.

Two more days and then I will beable to finally find Karel and that redheaded demon that took his life hesaid with a scowl across his face.He was already anxious as it is hehad been waiting for this for almostfour years now and he was about tobe able to succeed with what he hadplanned when he went to the cemeterythe night they buried Karel. He wasready to be rid of the nightmare thathaunted him every night since the

He was so caught up in deep thoughtsand memories of his past that thevoice that came to him made him spin

I gave you theinformation you needed to find Karelbut it was for a journey that the Godsand Goddesses are bestowing upon youto make happen.

must leave without any water or foodand travel to your parents house tosay your goodbyes and meet me rightbefore midnight on the night you getthere she turned about to leave whenhe stopped her by asking her a coupleof questions he needed the answersto. OK can I make crosses to give tomy family for protection over themonce I leave, and why can I not takeany food or water? the look on hisface was of defeat. Yes I do advise

Chapter Three: Preparing To Leave

The next morning Jarel grabbed allof his scrap metal and placed all of itwithin his black cauldron to melt it

down to make the three crosses hewanted to make for his family. Oncethe metal was simmering in the potJarel carved three molds out of clayso that once the metal was all meltedhe could place it into the molds andlet it set to cool. The metal was nowmelted and he poured the molds withthe liquid substance and waited for ittoo cool. While waiting for the moldsto cool Jarel packed his two changesof clothes, his herbs, crystals and his

scrying stone. Once he finishedpacking he checked the molds that

held the crosses and made sure thatthey were cool. Taking each cross outof the molds he engraved each crosswith his family members name on the

back. He also drilled a hole throughthe side of the edge of each crossthen thread a thick leather rope intoeach of the holes and tied them into aknot to make it to where it would beable to hang around their necks. Eachof the crosses was engraved with hisremaining families names, one for hisfather Orion, another for his motherJazzle and the last one for his littlesister Tenila. Now having the crossesfinished he knew that after the night

of the full moon and he found wherehis brother Karel was he must leave

that next morning and travel to hisfamilies home in Salem. On the nightof the full moon Jarel took the stoneoutside and looked inside it. The

images he saw was very strange, itwas of a place and time that he knewwas in the future. Not sure how farinto the future it was he was able tosee his brother in strange attire in aplace that had lights that sparkledand flashed with loud music blaring inhis ears. This took him by suchsurprise that he thought the stonewas showing him something wrong andbegan to question what the Goddesshad told him. That is when he heard a

deep voice black man address hisbrother as boss and then he realized

that this must be some sort ofbusiness that his brother owns or evenworks in to hide his identity. Heplaced the scrying stone into his

traveling bag and prepared for bedknowing that his day would begin veryearly. He knew he must go throughthe village he lived on the outskirts ofto the Quiliam Catholic Cathedral tosee father Ishla. That night hisdreams were somehow different thanthe past three or four years now ofKarel's death. He dreamed of areddish brown headed woman thatseemed to be calling to him. She wassmiling in each scene he saw of her

that flashed by and her face wasalways the same oval beauty he had

never seen before. Her attire fromeach vision changed from one of greenvelvet with gold trim the same coloras her emerald eyes that seemed to

laugh when she beckoned him to followher further. Then she was clad in adress with a tight bodice that lacedup the back which pushed her amplebreasts up to reveal her cleavage withlong sleeves and a wide bottom thathad several layers of other whatlooked like lace skirts underneath it.Then her dress turned into a plainyellow cloth type dress that had asimple skirt and straps that held upthe top across her curvaceous frame.

The last frame that flashed into hisdream was of her dressed in a tight

black top that showed her midriff, aglossy black looking skirt that wasvery short and she had something thatcovered her legs that looked like

spider webs and black boots the sameglossy color as her skirt . Althoughthe dream was a change from hisnormal nightmare this one would beone that was going to have himpondering what it meant. The womanthat he saw in each scene had themost perfect face and body he awokewith what felt like a blush upon hisface. He could still see her long hairthat hung in ringlets down past herwaist.

Noticing that the sun was justin the horizon he decided to get out

of bed, freshen up and eat somebreakfast before he left without anyfood. He still was at a lost to why hewas not allowed to take any food, but

the Goddess had told him that theGods and Goddesses would provide himwith that when he was in need of it.After eating he made sure he placedthe three crosses he had made thenight before that also contained a fewherbs he added and had chanted ashe had placed it into the meltingmetal just for good measure into ared velvet bag.

Triton Jarel's Gray Gelding Horse

He grabbed his bag that he wouldlay over his gray geldings back thenwent outside and saddled Triton withhis stuff and placed the velvet baginto his winter cloak that he waswearing and started into town to findthe priest. Once he reached the town

of Quiliam he crossed over to theCatholic church.

Even though Jarel was and had

walked over to the large basin thatheld the holy water and he dipped hisfirst two fingers into the water andmade the appropriate movements one

was supposed to do when entering aCatholic church.

Jarel started walking down themain aisle of the church looking at

was almost at the front of thecathedral when he noticed severalpeople kneeling on the crushed redvelvet kneeling bench saying their

daily prayers. Candles were on thestairs that led to the alter and werelit sending heavenly shadows acrossthose who had their eyes looking up atthe wooden cross with Jesus etchedinto the wood. Jarel walked silentlypast the ones in prayer and went pastthe mahogany confessional booths tofather Ishla's office just around thecorner of the booths.

Once father Ishla was done andJarel had the crosses tucked backinto the velvet bag and hidden in his

jacket he placed four gold coins intohis hand. Dear son you don't have topay me for doing you and your family

his familys house.

Chapter Four: Confiding In His FamilyAnd Making Sure They Are

Safe

Jarel had been riding his dearhorse for what seemed like hours.Since he was not allowed to take anyfood or water with him and hisbreakfast long being digested fromhis stomach his belly began to rumblein protest. Morganna was not worriedabout any of the other things that hehad talked to her about bringing but

she had made herself perfectly clearthat he was to not bring any food or

water with him what so ever. Jarel,you will take all of the other thingsyou have asked of me to take but theGods and Goddesses have made it

perfectly clear that you are to nottake any food or water, when and onlywhen you are in dire need of thesethings will they be provided for youher finality of that was one that hadsomewhat enraged him. What do theywant me to die of hunger and thirstbefore I can even start this dreaded

journey they have bestowed on me hemuttered looking up at the sun thatwas now directly overhead whichmeans he had it beating down on him

with a vengeance. He continued downthe road managing to not fall over

from his stomach grumbling so loudthat even the forest creatures couldhave heard it. The colors in the skyfinally started changing letting Jarel

know that nightfall was close at handso he pulled over into a little clearing just in the edge of the forest. Hetied Triton to a tree and went to findfire wood so he could build a fire tokeep him and his horse warm and toalso ward off any wild animal thatmight try to come up on him while herested for the night. Once finding thefirewood and starting the fire hisstomach made a deep growl remindinghim just how hungry he was starting

to truly get. He thought that he washungry earlier that day, now the pain

in his stomach was a continuing acheand he knew it wasn't going to get anybetter. Not until the Gods andGoddesses thought he was in dire need

of it as Morganna had said. He tookhis bag that held his two changes ofclothes in it and placed it on theground, he used the blanket that healways had underneath the saddle hehad on Triton's back and placed it onthe ground then he laid down andcovered up with his winter cloak andclosed his eyes just as the sun wentdown.

The dream he had just the night
