BackgroundThe township of Moree is located 640Km north-west of Sydney near the Queensland/New South Wales border, 475km from Brisbane and 1230km from Melbourne. It is located in the fertile Gwydir Valley and McIntyre river Valley. It is a rich agricultural area with strong industries in cotton, grain and oilseeds.

Moree is located on two major highways: Gwydir Highway and Newell Highway. Newell Highway is extensively used as the travelling route for the transport industry as well as for a thriving tourism trade that is seen everyday on this trail.

Moree is also known as a “Spa Town” due to its unlimited supply of thermal water. It has been known as a town to come and “take the water”. Thermal pools exist through the town with Moree Council recently completing the redevelopment of the Moree Municipal Spa. The spa industry continues to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
