Leaders should have contacted their association early to let them know of their plan to have a Bible Drill team participating in an association tournament. New churches must register their church information at www.ncbibledrill.org. Churches that have already registered do not need to register their church information each year unless there have been changes in leadership or contact information. There will be a $5 registration fee for each participant for the regional drills. This fee may be paid online at the time of registration or after the association drill. Bible Drill is a skills-based curriculum where students will: learn to use their Bibles appropriately. build strong Bible skills. build a strong foundation for life application of the Scriptures. develop memory skills that will aid them in their school work and future

careers.

Bible Drill is for grades 4-12. A student may begin Bible Drill at any grade level without prior participation.

For children: church, association, regional (associations are asked to provide one judge for every five drillers at this level)

For youth and high school: church, association, regional (associations are asked to provide one judge for every five drillers at this level), state finals,

nationals

YOUTH SPEAKER’S TournamentThe Youth Speaker’s Tournament is for youth, grades 10-12.

The tournament requires youth to:

think seriously about what they believe and why.

verbalize their thoughts clearly and communicate to an audience in a

four-to-six minute speech.

They must have a score of at least 180 points in the association tournament to progress to the regional tournament. Topics are listed on the website.

FINALISTS AWARDSBaptist State Convention of North Carolina Bible Drill scholarships are awarded to the participant scoring highest in the state finalist drill in each of the youth tournament categories. (A minimum score, indicated below, must be earned for the scholarship to be awarded.) The recipient of the award must be from an N.C. Baptist supporting church.

Youth Bible Drill (grades 7-9) Score of 270

High School Bible Drill (grades 10-12) Score of 270

Youth Speaker’s Tournament (grades 10-12) Score of 200

Scholarships are provided by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. This $2,500 scholarship is made possible by gifts of North Carolina Baptists through the Cooperative Program. A student may only win a scholarship once, even if they are the finalist another year and continue on to the nationals tournaments in a different category (Youth Bible Drill, High School Bible Drill, Youth Speakers Tournament).

National TournamentsThe Southeastern Discipleship Group of the Southern Baptist Convention will extend an invitation to the three finalist winners to participate in the national Bible Drill/Youth Speaker’s Tournament Invitational. Registration fees for this event will be paid by the BSCNC. Travel, lodging, meals and other expenses are the responsibility of the winners and their families.
