MOP for Configuring TCU 02, using xml Scripts, Airtel Rwanda

Note: It is assumed that the user is familiar with basic telnet commands and has

experience of using FTP server. It is also assumed that user has error-free xml

scripts to be downloaded to TCU. Creating or editing of xml scripts is beyond the

scope of this document

Login to TCU using straight cable connected to LMT port of TCU.

The login IP of TCU is 192.168.1.1. The laptop must have IP in

same subnet. Login using following credentials using putty or any

other telnet software.

Username : admin

Password: hidden

Check the current software revision using rev command. The primary

software should be R1Z08 as shown below. If it is on some older

version, a software upgrade is needed to be performed. Otherwise,

software upgrade can be skipped

To upgrade software, start your secure FTP connection, using SFTP or

any other third party tool. Place the upgrade software in some folder.

Use the folder path as home directory in SFTP tool.

Start a software download session. Turn on the local sftp port using the

commands shown below

To download, use downloadsw command, as shown above. Here,

sau� swsession name

sftpuser � user name as defined in sftp

sftpassword � password as defined in sftp

192.168.1.2 � IP address of laptop

tcu02_sw.tar � upgrade package

check download status by using getswsession status command. It will

show download in progress. After 10-15 minutes, download will

complete.

After download completes, activate the software as shown below. The

node will take a restart. Wait for the Node to come up again.

After restart, log in again. End the software session started earlier.

Verify that the primary software is R1Z08

To download the xml files to TCU, start a session, turn on the local sftp

as before and use the download command. The structure of command is

similar to the one used for software download. The name of the xml file

is to be used at the end

Wait for TCU to restart. After restart, end the session started earlier.
