FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends, Today is the last day of the Christmas Season. To be honest, I took my tree down last week! I am sorry, clutter makes me nuts and so I spent the Feast of the Epiphany ‘cleaning up as best I could,’ at least in my room. In today’s Gospel, Jesus is at prayer after His baptism when the Holy Spirit rests on Him and the Father’s voice is heard. This infusion of the Holy Spirit launches Jesus’ Public Ministry; in the same way, you and I have been sent back into the world through our baptism/confirmation and Holy Communion. As Saint Paul tells Titus, the spirit was poured out on us through Christ that we might be heirs in hope of eternal life. Let us listen for God’s call to us in our daily reading of the Holy Scripture. Our staff is preparing for a pastoral visit by our regional Bishop Daniel Thomas, who is looking forward to his visit. It is always of spiritual benefit when a successor to the Apostles blesses a parish as he presides at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and receives our Holy Communion with him and through him, the Church. He will be here February 2 to February 4. He would like to speak at all the Masses. Bishop Thomas is a good man and I look forward as I know you do to welcoming him and offering him our hospitality.
Have a great week! I remember all of
you in my daily prayers,
Father Cioppi

MINISTRY OF LECTOR
“AS YOU GO, MAKE THIS PROCLAMATION: THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND.”
Jesus calls each of us to discipleship in proclaiming the kingdom of heaven. MDP parish is in need of more of His disciples to assist with the proclamation of the Word of God at Mass as a lector. Your service is needed at one weekend
Mass approximately once every three weeks. New lectors will be fully trained and prepared for this important ministry in service to God’s people. Lectors must be at least 16 years old. Please prayerfully consider if you are being called by Christ to assist in the ministry of His word and contact Mrs. Susan Dugary or Deacon Mark Dillon at 610-265-4178 to volunteer to become a lector in our parish. Your service will help us make sure everyone knows the joyful news that the kingdom of God is at hand.
SAVE THE DATE Please mark your calendar and plan to attend
A Night at the Palio! This
evening will include food, fun
and fellowship on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Complete details will follow in upcoming bulletins and on our parish website.

PARISH SERVICES
GIFT OF SIGHT SAYS THANK YOU The other day, I took 2 shopping bags filled with eye
glasses to Lens Crafters in the King of Prussia Mall. This is where all of those glasses go that you so kindly leave in the back of our church. I was greeted with a big smile and the comment you just brought
some a few months ago. Yes, we had donated glasses a few months ago. The young lady who took the bags told me that our last donations went to Haiti. Since 1988, the Gift of Sight has provided free eye care and glasses to more than 5 million people around the world, across North America and right here in your hometown. “Thank you for helping us help the world see.” special message from Lens Crafters.
MDP SENIORS We are looking forward to our first meeting in this new year on February 5, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the parish offices. Our speaker will be Father Cioppi. He will be offering a spiritual talk on The Icons of Mary. Please join us for this meeting that can serve as a preparation for Lent. New members are welcome!
WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEEK? I am not a great movie goer, but I did see 2 over Christmas week – Les Miserables and Lincoln. Lincoln was by far the best movie I have seen in a long time. The acting and the screening were superb. The person of Lincoln as a strong leader and a gentle, caring person came through in this presentation of just a few months of his presidency. It made me really appreciate the weight of leadership on those who do it well. It is hard for me to put into words what came through in this movie – must say that I felt as if I met Lincoln in person and got to know him. I don’t usually recommend movies, but this one is a must see. The lesson in this “What have you seen?” perhaps you need to see the movie and figure it out for yourself. What have you seen this week?
