Located on the lower level, some of you may remember this space as the old bowling lanes! This room features old elevator doors from the upper rooms recreated into pocket doors. The tables and chairs are original (just reupholstered). There is a beautifully constructed oak bar along with oak flooring. In the near future this room will house original framed photos of the construction of the building, from when two houses sat on this lot, until now. The “Hood Room” holds approximately 75 people and is a great space for all types of events. So far, it has played host to the Voluntary Action Center dinner, the Medical Society dinner, a Broadway Theatre League reception, small wedding reception, graduation party, and more! Next time you’re in, be sure to stop and see it! They will be here on February 27—but do you know who they are? The Arrogant Worms of course! Mike, Chris and Trevor, formed this comedy troupe in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 1991. As part of our WNEP TV 16 Friday Forum Series, they will be hitting the stage singing their songs “making fun of a big dumb world.” Their show is family friendly and appeals to all ages. Chris Patterson - Bass guitar and vocals Mike McCormick - Guitar and vocals Trevor Strong - Vocals Bill and Mary Jean Lynett are serving as co-chairs of the Annual Membership Campaign. Mary Jean is a current SCC Board Member. She also chairs the Publicity Committee, as well, as sits on the Executive Board. Bill had previously served as the President of the SCC Board. Both are keenly aware of the need to inform people of the multitude of benefits that the Scranton Cultural Center brings to our community, but as importantly, how much our community brings to the SCC. This Membership Campaign will help serve that two fold purpose; giving our people a sense of belonging while at the same time allowing more and more of them to take part in, and share in, this outstanding structure. The people of our area are blessed to have a facility that serves so many diverse purposes and can do it all in the same day.
