April - May 2019
It’s Spring time!!!......hopefully we’re in for some blue skies and sunshine.
Montgomery County Fair is in full swing. Good luck to all our exhibitors!!
Those that have already competed at other shows, Congratulations. It takes lots of hard work and dedication. We are proud of you and your success! Our 4-H’ers seem to be
held to a higher standard and are some of the most respectful youth.
As busy as the Spring time can be that doesn’t mean the 4-H year is ending. Summer can get just as busy with many different activities. There’s all sorts of different camp
opportunities and events happening.

Semi-annual event where friends and family are invited to support 4-H by donating $1 at checkout in stores that contribute to scholarships that send kids to 4-H camps and other leadership experiences.
Clovers can be purchased with online orders this year. Store location to receive the donation will be associated with the shipping address.
Please try to organize within your club members to go and be pre-sent at a Tractor Supply Store in our County to promote the 4-H program and encourage the sell of paper clovers.
Make sure to let the 4-H office and Tractor Supply know when you have a group that will be present
Seniors if you were active in the annual Pecan Fundraiser and had regular customers, please find a younger 4-H’er to pass your pecan list to. That way we can continue to

4-H Partners with JOANN for ‘Clovers for Kids’ Campaign
JOANN stores are helping 4-H bring more hands-on programs to local communities across the nation to in-spire kids to lead lives with their head, hands, and hearts.
Between March 1 – April 30, 2019 visit your local JOANN store and purchase a clover tear away at the reg-ister for either $1 or $4. $4 purchases come with a $4 off coupon for a later purchase. 100% of the funds
donated go back to 4-H with 70% going back to the local states’ 4-H program. In addition, JOANN wants to support individual 4-H’ers involvement by providing a rewards card for 4-H
members, leaders, staff, and parents. The rewards card gives holders 15% off their purchase every day. To sign up go to https://www.joann.com/4-h/

HORSE PROJECT
JUDGING Horse judging is a vital component of the complete learning experience for any student interested in horses. Students gain many benefits from participating in such a program. It provides an excellent opportunity for youth and college students to learn to make decisions and organize their thoughts while evaluating the conformation and performance of horses. The presentation of oral reasons helps judgers improve their memory skills and learn to speak effectively. In addition, if a judger does own a horse, they become better exhibitors because they learn the current show standards and the criteria that actual judges use to evaluate each class.
Practices are held at The Extension Office at 6:30pm. Upcoming Practice Dates:
April 8, 2019
