DESCRIPTION
Our 2012-13 Tour Program, featuring our events, faculty & great information on our Monsters Dance program.
Citation preview
Welcome to the Monsters Family! It’s hard to believe that we are entering our
10th year and how far we’ve come in this time.
I am often asked how did we start Monsters.
We recognized a need and took a risk.
Combining my wife, Becky and her sister
Angie’s competitive dance background with
my business and marketing experience, we
created a non-competitive workshop focusing
on hip hop/commercial dance with the top
choreographers in the world. We wanted to
create real job opportunities and exposure for
dancers who couldn’t afford to travel to NY or
LA. Ten years later, the list of dancerss working
rofessionally through Monsters is unbelievable
and honestly, unprecedented. Pete Engle,
a talent agent from Clear Talent Group
calls Monsters “the #1 resource for finding
commercial dancers.”
From our faculty and staff to the volunteers and dancers, our main
priority is to maintain an environment where everyone feels at home,
like each city is a family reunion. We promise to never lose sight of
our mission and to continually strive to provide our families access to
the best teachers, mentors and opportunities in the industry. Through
Monsters and our non-profit Monsters On The Move Foundation, we
hope to do more than just provide a weekend of dance classes; we hope
to inspire a culture of community-service and help develop responsible,
humble and productive human beings worldwide.
We are honored and proud to be a part of such a tremendous
community, the dance community! Thank you for your support and
enjoy your weekend.
Peace,
Andy Funk

THE MONSTERS EFFECT
The Monsters Effect: a new interview series putting you up close & personal with your favorite Monsters.
We start with original Monsters faculty members, Emmy award-winners and new proud parents, Tabitha & Napoleon Dumo. For the full interview and advice from Nappytabs, visit www.monstersdance.com.
MHH: What motivates you?TD: Haha, Napoleon said me…well I think that different projects motivate
us in different ways. In general I think we get motivated by everything around us – television shows, plays or a showcase that someone’s putting on because you wanna know what else is out there. Cause as soon as you think that you got it all figured out is when you’re gonna fall. What motivates you?
ND: What motivates me? TD: The fear of failure. I think we take so much pride in what we do…ND: We are very proud. We don’t want anything to be better than what we’re
trying to do haha. TD: We’ll try our best in everything we do, regardless of pay, regardless of
time, regardless of whatever it may be.
MHH: Can you share an item from your bucket list? What would you like to try that you haven’t done before?
TD: We want to go to Africa… that was definitely one of them. ND: We wanna go on an African safari. TD: For sure that’s one of our bucket lists.ND: What else is on our bucket list?TD: I don’t know I think we’re so focused on… ND: …on work. TD: No, what’s about to come in our life. TD: …is to raise a good child. And to be good parents.ND: We don’t have a specific like ‘I wanna meet this person or I wanna
skydive or I wanna’…we’re pretty “at the moment” type people. We have aspirations personally, but like no bucket list. Raising a family of course, and career is… it’s executive producing our own show, it’s directing a Cirque de Solei show. We have a couple things that we’re pushing towards now, but no specific bucket list.
MHH: What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word: Dance?
ND: I think creativity. TD: I think pictures. I think choreography, I think pictures.
MHH: Monsters?TD: of hiphop! Haha… and family. ND: Family is good…I was just thinking the big time. Haha.
MHH: Nappytabs? ND: Clothing. Haha sorry, because for me it was our original clothing line, we
weren’t known as Nappytabs. Yeah, what do you think?TD: I think of your sister.

ND: You do? TD: Yeah, because Napoleon’s sister helps run our business for us so whenever
I think of Nappytabs I think of her because she holds down the fort. ND: I think the one word though would be teamwork.
