Overview: Why did 13 separate colonies form in the New World? • Groups travelled to America for different reasons: in search of ways to

make money, looking for adventure, or to have religious freedom

• The geography of America’s east coast varied from North to South impacting the type of economics opportunities set up

• Some groups did not agree with the King or the other groups in the colonies so they formed their own colonies and governments
