Edline Updates

Grades will NOT be updated this Friday, October 19th.

Assignments will be updated on Friday. First Quarter report

cards will be e-mailed out sometime near the middle of next

week.

Football Dance Information

There will be an SBA Dance following the football game

this Friday, October 19th! The dance will begin after the

football game has ended and will go until 10:30pm. Tickets

will be on sale at all lunches this week. Tickets are $5 and

will NOT be sold at the game or at the door. This dance is

for SBA students only, so students must have their ticket

AND their Student ID Card in order to be admitted to the

dance! November 7

th Early Dismissal

On Wednesday, November 7th, the SBA Faculty and Staff

will be participating in a Professional Development

opportunity. In order for this to happen, we will be

operating on a half-day schedule with students dismissing at

11:45am. Athletic practices and play rehearsals will be at

their normal times on that day.

Page 3: Monday Mail - 10/16/12

School Picture Proofs

School picture proofs have arrived and will be distributed during

1st period on Thursday, October 18th. Students will have until

Friday, November 2nd (even though the form does not say this) to

order school pictures. Any pictures that are ordered AFTER

November 2nd, will be charged a $10 late fee. If your student does

not like their picture, he or she will have an opportunity to retake

their picture during their lunch period on Thursday, November 8th.

Unlike in years past, we do NOT need to have the proofs back.

IRIS Emergency System Test

Once again this year, we will use the IRIS Emergency Notification

System if we have need to get out an announcement in quick

fashion.

Some schools use this for all sorts of reminders, but we have

chosen to limit its use to emergencies. And most commonly that

has meant closing for inclement weather.

We are going to test the system on Tuesday, October 23rd at

3:30 p.m. Just a reminder, that we will be reaching out via phone,

text, and e-mail to whatever phones and e-mails you provided on

your Registration Form.

If, after this test, you need to change any of your contact

information, please send an e-mail to Chris Truckner at

[email protected] or Claire Sweeney at

[email protected]

Thank you. And hopefully we won’t need it again.

NEWS FROM HOME AND SCHOOL

Volunteer opportunities are open for sign up via signupgenius.com. See links below. In addition, we have a call out for some additional volunteers needed: • Father/Son Outing - We need 3 moms or dads to assist with preparation and during

the event. These can be junior or senior moms or dads. It would be nice it is just the guys and their dads. A great opportunity for junior parents to volunteer and see what they have to look forward to next year. This event will be in the spring of 2013.

• Mother/Son Dinner - We need 4 junior moms to assist with set up the day of the event,

help during the event and clean up. This can be in shifts or the entire time. Event date is TBD, but set up is typically noon-2pm and the event should last no more than 3

hours, with 30-40 min for clean up. Having the junior moms allows our senior moms to spend

time with their sons.

For both of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Nancy Wiley at:

We are also looking for help with our Annual Fashion Show coming up in

February. Any businesses interested in catering or donating items for our

raffle baskets, please contact Romy Schaaf at [email protected] or by

phone at 901.359.7821. We will be having a planning meeting soon. If you

are interested in being part of this committee, please let Romy know as well

or contact Lori Regis at SBA.

lessons.

EAGLE BUCKS YOU WON’T BELIEVE HOW IT ADDS UP!

The Eagle Bucks program lets you earn money for St. Benedict OR tuition credit for yourself while shopping! All you have to do is buy gift cards from us! With more than 50

gift cards to choose from including, Target, Starbucks, Walmart, Kroger, Old Navy, Outback, Chili’s, Bahama

Breeze and more, you are sure to find something for everyone in our selection. To place your order, fill out and

turn in an Eagle Bucks form. They are available at http://www.sbaeagles.org/eaglebucks

or in our main school office. You can designate the money to go to your Tuition Account, The SBA Annual Fund, or an SBA Organization. Orders are placed on a weekly basis and SBA receives a percentage of

the sale of the gift card. Last year, this program raised almost $50,000 for SBA and that was with minimal

participation. Can you imagine if we all took advantage of this? Especially with Christmas right around the corner!

Thank you so much for helping SBA!

The Scripps/Eagle Bucks Program raised over $50,000 for SBA last year. This makes a major difference in the programs we are able to offer our students.

Please consider purchasing your holiday gift cards from SBA.

Thank you for supporting the SBA Annual Fund.

Target REDcard SBA Annual Fund

Great News! We received a check from Target’s Take Charge of Education Program for $2,095.38. This is such a great and easy way to beef up our Annual Fund each year. We are thrilled with this gift, but out of curiosity, looked in on our school’s progress using Target’s user-friendly website. Guess what? We only have 79 Target credit cards out there that over a period of time have totaled over $20,000 in donations over the years. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF WE ALL DESIGNATED SBA ON OUR TARGET CARDS AS OUR SCHOOL OF CHOICE? Who doesn’t go to Target? We are getting settled into the new school year, and are kicking off our Annual Fund drive. If you have a quick second, there are a few scenarios below. What a GREAT way to give to the school, and after the initial sign up, it is effortless. Please consider this super-easy way for SBA to receive a percentage of the amount of each Target purchase you make with your card. If you do not have a Target REDcard, you can go to Target.com to download the application, or pick one up in the store. If you already have a Target REDcard, you can go to their website to designate Saint Benedict as your school of choice. It is easy to search for by city and state. To see the progress report on our school and how much we have received from the Take Charge of Education program, check back to Target.com periodically. You will be amazed at how it adds up! Thank you so much for supporting SBA!

What is the Rosary? Why is it important? How do I pray the Rosary? Look here
