We are happy that you have chosen to celebrate the Christmas Liturgies with us and we hope you will find warmth and hos-pitality here, next weekend. By now, we all have received many Christmas wishes and Christmas Cards… Some people even say that one of their favorite Christmas traditions is sending out Christmas cards. I have 6 good rea-sons why sending cards is a wonderful thing:
1st It gives us a chance to reflect on our year: When we sat down to write up our Christmas newsletter , a
humorous one-page summary of what’s been going on with us over the past twelve months, we are amazed at how much God has done in our lives in a single year!
2nd It’s easier now than ever: There are tons of businesses like Shutterfly and Snapfish that let us create
Christmas cards online for a reasonable price. If we weren’t able to get everyone together for a family portrait, there are also plenty of options for cards that bring together individual photos to form a collage of family pictures.
3rd It lets others know what’s going on with us: Printing out a brief summary of our family’s year is a
great way to give others a snapshot of the most important things going on in our lives right now.
4th It gives your friends and family something to display: I love it when I go to my parishioners’ hous-
es during the holidays and I see pictures of their friends and family all over their mantles. In the Rectory, I have a special wall holder that can display up to 50 cards, and every time I pass by it I think of how blessed I am to have such wonderful friends and parishioners at COKAS.
5th It blesses people who aren’t tech savvy: One of my favorite Christmas card stories is when I acci-
dentally sent a card to the old address for some friends who moved. An elderly lady had moved into the house, and she sent me a long, hand-written note about how lonely she’s been since her husband died and how much it blessed her to receive my card.
6th It’s an opportunity for evangelization: Every year we receive a surprising amount of positive feedback
about Christmas cards: In particular, many of our non-Catholic friends remark about how interesting it is that we seem to have joy-filled lives, even though many aspects of our Catholic lifestyle go against what the world tells you, you need to be happy. My Parish Staff and I Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2018!

All of the people in today’s readings – the prophet Isaiah, the Virgin Mary, St. Paul, St. John the Bap-tist – seemed to understand clearly and rejoice in what God was calling them to be and to do. Do I?

Saint Vincent de Paul Christmas Plea
Christmas reminds us that God gave us the greatest gift of all, his son. With the holidays drawing near, we ask that you please find a place on your Christ-mas list for the needs of our SVdP clients. The number of requests is always high during the Christmas Sea-son. We want to continue to help as many people as possible, particularly at this time of year. Please say “yes” to helping us, so that we won’t have to say “no” to anyone in need. Thank you for your support and God bless you and your families during this Holiday Season!
Evening Bible Study has moved to Tuesday nights. We will
be meeting in the PLC at 6:30.
Our Lenten study is the Gospel of Mark, written by
John Mark to Gentile Christians living in Rome as an
evangelism and discipleship manual. It recounts many
of the events of Jesus’ life in narrative fashion and fo-
cuses significant attention on the final of week of his
passion in Jerusalem. Since Easter is early this year,
our first meeting will be on January 16, 2018. Our dates
are: Jan. 16; Jan. 30; Feb. 13; Feb 20; and Mar. 13. For
you Knights, we have accommodated your meetings for
Feb. and March.
Please contact Lalla Mangin (706-467-0883) or bibles-
[email protected] The deadline for signup is
January 9, 2018.

La forma circular de la rosca
simboliza el amor eterno de Dios, que no tiene principio ni fin.
El niño que está escondido
es un recordatorio del momento en que José y María escondieron al Niño Jesús para salvarlo de Herodes.
Los dulces or frutas cristalizadas
son las distracciones del mundo que nos impiden en-contrar a Jesús.
