BACKGROUND:PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITIHaiti was colonized by France (actually, it was colonized by Saint-Domingue, which was a colony of France)

On a side note, Haiti has an extensive history being occupied or colonized by various nations

In 1804, Haiti finally became its own independent nation

GOALS

M.O.M.’s goals:

M.O.M. is an equipping mission, meaning that our goal is to encourage and equip the people with God-given talents to serve rather than just send out help where it is needed. In the case of Haiti, we are looking to rebuild communities, and empower the people with a sustainable lifestyle re-founded on God.

Personal goals:

To love. Love. And Love even more. I am striving to love the people of Haiti, my fellow missionaries, and our God in the best and worst of times. I hope to be used by God as an instrument for His grand vision and great works. I hope to let go of myself, and grow in God more.

PLAN OF ACTIONBiblical Community Development (BCD)

-Preschool teaching (using Montessori curriculum)

-English school: The curriculum is already written by the ETI (English Teaching Institute) and now Haiti is just in need of teachers

-Computer school: there are several places where teachers are needed, one being at an IT Center in the Haitian College, and another at the mission

center

-Orphanage: M.O.M. is working with three Haitian orphanages with total of 100 children. These orphanages provide food, shelter, and clothing but no education. We want to change that and give them an opportunity to learn!

-Many other ministries such as Art

Microfinance/Micro-Entrepreneur Ministry

-Micro-recharged Battery System: Recharging lamp, cell USV, etc. This is a great microenterprise resource and is being used very successfully in Uganda.

PRAYER REQUESTSDear God, we ask that you…

Prepare the hearts of all the missionaries, so that we may come humbled, not judging, and ready to serve and love purely

Prepare the hearts of the Haitians that we will meet. That the Holy Spirit convicts them and that they turn to You not for their own benefit but because they are so in awe of You

Please lend us your wisdom, so that we may prepare our minds and hearts for Haiti NOW. Let us be curious and respectful of Haiti and its own culture, and let us be diligent in learning about Haiti– especially Creole

Please teach us lessons now so that we know how to react later

Please inspire the congregation, friends, and family members to support our mission continuously whether by financial means or by prayer. Please unite us, and please let us HELP HAITI together

Please help us be BOLD and COURAGEOUS in Your Name. Let us not loose focus on the most important aim in our lives

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen
