Initially funded by a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation, The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UM (MOLLI) is a lifelong learning program for adult learners +50. MOLLI’s goal is to create an accessible and innovative learning environment so that active older adults from all backgrounds and levels of education may pursue learning. MOLLI builds on the rich resources of The University of Montana to offer its members an array of educational and social opportunities. As a MOLLI member you have the opportunity to:

theOctoberRevolution,andachievingcareeraffirmationinParisandaperplexingreturntotheSovietUnionontheeveoftheSecondWorldWar.

About the instructor: RecentlypraisedbytheTanjugNewsAgencyforhis “exceptional energy and musicianship,” Maestro Darko Butoracisquickly establishinghimself asoneof theworld’smost sought-after young conductors. Reflections on Sophocles’ Oedipus Trilogy FredMcGlynn

Wewilldiscussthethreeplays,whichconstitutetheOedipustrilogy:Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone. The three plays were writtenat different times in Sophocles’ life and reflect different interests:tragedy,morality and the state, and the difference betweenmoraland tragic responsibilitywith thepotential for redemption. Thiswill be a largelydiscussion-based class centering around theinterweavingofthethemesintheseremarkableplays.
