The Power of Introductions
HOW DO YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?Make a note right now
BREAKTHRU BRANDING™ 23
‣ Many people rush through their name.
BREAKTHRU BRANDING™ 24
‣ Most people do not share anything that makes them MEMORABLE.
‣ Most introduce themselves by sharing their title and how many years they have been there.
“You are MORE than your job title!”
K I M B E R L Y F A I T H
“You only have a MINUTE TO WIN IN.”
J E F F B L A C K , W O R L D R E N O W N E D C O M M U N I C A T I O N S E X P E R T
‣ If you must share your tenure, do it creatively!
BREAKTHRU BRANDING™ 27
‣ If you have been there 25 yrs -“I have invested over 50,000 hours of my life in the success of X,Y,Z Company.”
‣ If you have been there 10 years -“I have been here long enough to earn a bachelors, masters and Ph.Dso I guess that means . . .”
‣ If you have not been there a long time, downplay this by focusing instead on the collective experience you bring to the table.
‣ Think outside of your job title!
BREAKTHRU BRANDING™ 28
‣ Look for collective impact numbers such as “I have trained over 23,000 leaders or I have been involved with deals totaling $10M”
‣ Look to your brand words for what you bring to the table and include that in your introduction –“I could tell you about what I do in accounting but instead I want you to remember me as a data detective because I search for the message in the numbers . . .”
‣ Don’t be afraid to mention something memorable outside of work as long as you BRIDGE to why they should care now.
BREAKTHRU BRANDING™ 29
‣ You might find it interesting I just completed my 10th marathon. The tenacity, endurance, and discipline it took to make that a reality is exactly what I bring to this company in the position of . . .
‣ I am proud of the 10 years I served as a “x” in the military. I bring that same dedication, drive and leadership excellence to the acquisition challenge we face today . . .
