    Introduction

In grammar, an adjective is a word whose

main syntactic role is to modify a noun or pronoun, givingmore information about the noun or pronoun's referent.

Collectively, adjectives form one of the traditional English

eight parts of speech, though linguists today distinguishadjectives from words such as determiners that also used to

    be considered adjectives.

    Example:

One sunny Saturday afternoon, Witch Matilda walked slowlydown the stairs while her cat, Midnight, gave out to her.

"Matilda, you should really want to think of someone else exceptyourself in this world!!!" she shouted at her owner. She was angry

,as Matilda 'forgot' to feed her yet again, and she was starving.

"You'd think my own cat would say to me in the morning, "Goodmorning Matilda how do you like your eggs made?" but noooooo, I

just had to pick the most stubborn cat at the witch's cat pet shop!!!"Matilda retorted.

'Good morning? It's two am!' Her cat replied sarcastically.

Suddenly, somebody rang the doorbell. Matilda ran for it, hoping itwas the mail wizard with her new wand. Unfortunately, when shereached the door, she was disappointed. It was only the MayorWitch's son, Micky. He was called Micky because he had sticky out

ears and sort of looked like Mickey Mouse. When she realised it washim, her long

, warty nose went red with laughter.

'Yeah, yeah, Matilda, I may look like a mouse, but at least I don'thave a long warty nose, with a torn black dress, worn black shoes, stripy tights and a pointy black hat with holes in it!' he angrily

    protested.

'Well aren't we fancy today! Speaking of which, do you have time?'Matilda asked the little boy, who in her opinion was very snobbyindeed.

'COME ON, MATILDA, I ALREADY TOLD YOU IT WAS TWO AM!!!' Midnight roared so loudly it blew a gigantic wind overMatilda and Micky. 'Micky, by the way, why did you come here?'she asked very politely.

'Oh yeah, my mom wants you to give this present to Robbie.'

'Robbie? My brother Robbie? Why would I go see him? I have noreason to.' MAtilda answered, surprised.

'You don't know when your own brothers birthday is?' Mickylaughed.

Matilda rushed to her calendar, and there it was as clear asday, Robbie's birthday.

She ran as quickly as lightning to get her broom.

'Come on, Midnight, we have to go get Robbie a present!'
