ECOSYSTEM APPROACH TO FISHERIES MANAGEMENT (EAFM) PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS

PREPARING THE EAFM PLAN

Module 3 – Planning Process Overview

Describe the key steps of the EAFM process and how to plan,

implement, and monitor EAFM

Identify the planning steps in the EAFM process

Familiarize ourselves with an EAFM Plan and its relation to other

plans required of national agencies and/or LGU

Note:

Other plans affecting your fishing grounds may be in use

(e.g. CRM, FMP, MPA, ICM, PA-MP) – EAFM Plan consolidates all

these for the whole fisheries management area

3- PLANNING PROCESS OVERVIEW

Key Messages The EAFM planning process cycle has 5 steps.

Before the first step in the cycle, get organized in

the Start-up.

The EAFM Plan comes from the outputs of Steps

1-3.

In Step 4, the plan is implemented.

In Step 5, the plan is evaluated and adapted for

the next cycle.

Notes:

Other management plans affecting our FMA/ adjacent FMAs may exist.

We need to work to integrate, improve and/or complement these plans.
