between the quality produced (output) and

the quantity of resource used in the course of

    production (input).

    Productivity (P) = Output (O)

    Input (I)

Output means production while input means land,

    labour, capital, management etc.

Productivity measures the efficiency of the

production system. Higher productivity means producing more from a

given amount of input or producing a given amount

    with minimum level of inputs.

In other words the more the output from one worker

or one machine (or a piece of equipment) per day

per shift, the higher is the productivity.

Higher productivity is not to be taken in sense of

higher workloads or faster machines alone but it is

always elimination of waste of all type of labour

(time and skill) machine time, capital, and materialmanagement etc.

Productivity and quality are two different things.

It cant be said that quality means productivity .

Quality refers to the special characteristics and

specifications of the product and productivity means

the output of the product in relation to the input.

In the same way productivity and production are also

    two different things.

Production is an absolute concept, which refers to

    the volume of output.

On the other hand productivity refers to the output

    in relation to the input.

    Responsibility of Quality

Quality management is a company wide concept.

The whole organization is related with the quality

    mission.

One person or one department alone cannot handle

    it.

Each and every department, person, things are

responsible for the quality. So it is a responsibility of whole organization to make

a qualitative product which serves best to the

    customers.
