One of my favorite things about being a designer is having the chance to experiment without always knowing what

the end results will be. Whether it’s by painting, drawing, carving woodblocks, or cutting paper, I love being immersed in the creative process and discovering things along the way that offer a new perspective for my work. When Moda asked me to come up with a line of batiks, I was so excited to jump in and give it a whirl. I was even more excited by the outcome! Latitude Batiks is a collection of some of my favorite designs that have been rein-terpreted through the collaboration with talented artisans in Indonesia. The palette spans from jewel-tones to soft pastels that bring a beautifully artistic, hand-dyed watercolor blend to many of my recent collections including Canyon, Aria, Paradiso and Horizon. Give yourself a passport to explore with Latitude, and a fresh new perspective for your quilting projects!

We want to spend the day outside, our senses on high alert. The sun feels

warm and the air smells fresh; the meadows are green and sprinkled with wild fl owers. We grab our baskets and head up the hill to the local strawberry patch to see bright red berries nestled in rich green foliage and busy bees col-lecting nectar from the tiny buds.We’ve tried to capture these images and vibrant colors of spring in Bumble Berries. There isn’t much we love more than Moda’s soft, luscious flannel, except perhaps our most famous

Minnesota animal, the moose. When it was placed on the Endangered Species list, we were curious to know if any other local animals and birds might also be on the list. We were astounded to discover how many were, and to realize how we were taking it for granted that some species might soon be lost to history. With this collection, we wanted to highlight our favorite Minnesota wildlife to increase aware-ness, and to encourage all of us to do what we can to preserve them.
