MOBOTIX Door Station: Reset and Reconfigure 1. Introduction The MOBOTIX Support Team receives many support request related to mis-configured Door Station systems. Often the best course of action is to reset and reconfigure the system. This insures a clean configuration and that the Door Station functions properly. The intention of this paper is to explain the proper procedure to reset and reconfigure a Door Station system. 2. Procedure 2.1. Resetting the system components If all of the Door Station components, T24 or 25 camera and MxBus modules, are already set to factory default settings it is possible to skip this part of the procedure and to go directly to the auto-configuration process described in section 2.2 bellow. The following steps explain how to check the status of MxBus modules, Hardware reset of MxBus modules if necessary, software reset of MxBus modules and camera, and reset of Grandstream phones. 2.1.1. Checking the status of MxBus Components The goal is to be able to reset the MxBus modules via the camera and then the camera itself via the cameras web browser interface. For this to be possible the camera and the MxBus modules need to be communicating properly. If the LED’s on the Keypad or the Door Master are blue or green it is possible to proceed with the software reset in step 2.1.3. If, however, the right LED on the Keypad above the bell button, or the left LED on the Door Master above the audio button are flashing, it is likely that there is an encryption error on the MxBus. To check the status of the MxBus modules go to >Admin >Manage MxBus Modules. If you see Invalid Encryption under Status Details the MxBus modules will need to be hardware reset which is described in the next section 2.1.2. The most common reason for an Invalid Encryption status is that the camera was reset before the MxBus modules which leaves an encryption key on the modules that the camera no longer recognizes. MOBOTIX Door Station: Reset and Reconfigure

Resetting the system components

If all of the Door Station components, T24 or 25 camera and MxBus modules, are already set to factory default settings it is possible to skip this part of the procedure and to go directly to the auto-configuration process described in section 2.2 bellow. The following steps explain how to check the status of MxBus modules, Hardware reset of MxBus modules if necessary, software reset of MxBus modules and camera, and reset of Grandstream phones.

2.1.1. Checking the status of MxBus Components

The goal is to be able to reset the MxBus modules via the camera and then the camera itself via the cameras web browser interface.

Once the hardware reset of the MxBus modules has been completed, go once again to the Manage MxBus Modules menu to verify that the modules Status Details is Addressable. Once this is done it is possible to continue with the software reset of the camera described in section 2.1.4.

2.1.3. Software reset of MxBus modules

It is possible to reset the MxBus modules from the Manage MxBus Modules menu by clicking the Reset MxBus Modules button. After a short time the modules Status Detail should indicate Addressable. The result is the same as in the screen-shot above in section 2.1.2

2.1.4. Software reset of T24/25

The Reset Configuration to Factory Defaults menu can be found under the Admin menu. If you have come to this section directly from section 2.1.1. you will first want to click on the Reset MxBus Modules button and let this process complete before going on. If, on the other hand, you have completed the hardware reset of the MxBus modules or the software reset of the MxBus modules in sections 2.1.2. or 2.1.3. then it is not necessary to reset the modules again. Regardless of which method was used to reset the modules, once completed, it is time to reset the camera. Make sure that the Completely replace the current configuration

Alternatively it is possible to reset the phone via the phones web browser interface under >Maintenance >Upgrade and selecting Factory Reset, then confirm the reset and the phone will reboot.

2.2. Configuring the Door Station with autoconfig

Regardless of what combination of MxBus modules are connected to the T24 or T25 camera the autoconfig will need to be accomplished to activate the Door Station functions.

The autoconfig accomplishes the following:

• Activates and configures the cameras SIP server

• Activates and configures the cameras SIP client

• configures necessary phone and signal profiles

• Discover and initializes any connected MxBus modules

• Activates the cameras DHCP server if there is no other DHCP server detected on the network

• Discovers any other T24 or T25 cameras on the network and pushes a configuration to them to activate Door Station functions

• Discovers any Grandstream telephones on the network and pushes a configuration to them, this discovery and configuration works for GXV3140 and GXYV3175 telephones

2.2.1. Starting the autoconfig

Note that the camera and all MxBus modules need to be set to factory defaults to begin this procedure. Follow instructions in section 2.1 to reset the camera and MxBus modules if necessary.

• Remove power from the camera by disconnecting the network cable from the PoE switch or PoE adaptor.

• Reapply power by reconnecting the network cable to the PoE switch or PoE adaptor. After about 25 seconds, when both the Light button and the Bell button light up simultaneously, Press and hold the Bell button for a few seconds until both buttons flash on and off a few times. The autoconfig process has started.

• After approximately sixty to ninety seconds the camera will announce its network data via the cameras speaker. When the announcement is done the cameras LED’s will stay lit up and the number buttons on the Keypad, if present, will flash white with the ESC/ALARM button flashing red and the OK/MENU flashing blue. If there is no Keypad connected to the camera skip to section 2.2.3. bellow.

2.2.2. Programing the Keypad

• Once the network data audio announcement is completed the Keypad will beep a couple of times to indicate that it is time to program the super PIN. The super PIN needs to be at least 8 digits and not more than 16 digits long. The super PIN needs to be input twice followed each time by OK/MENU. Once the super PIN has been programed in the camera it also becomes the admin password and replaces the meinsm default admin password.

Number buttons 2,6,9,0,7, and 4 will then light up sequentially to form a circular pattern. The circular patter indicates confirmation. Go on to the next step when the number buttons are lit up white and the ESC/ALARM button is flashing red and the OK/MENU is flashing blue.

• Now program the red Administrator Card by holding the card directly on the Keypad keys for about five seconds. The Keypad will beep but do not remove the card until you hear a second longer beep. The number buttons 2,6,9,0,7, and 4 will then light up sequentially to form a circular pattern. The circular patter indicates confirmation. Go on to the next step when the number buttons are lit up white and the ESC/ALARM button is flashing red and the OK/MENU is flashing blue.

• The blue User Cards can now be programed. Hold each card in turn directly on the Keypad keys for a few seconds until you hear the Keypad beep. The number buttons 2,6,9,0,7, and 4 will then light up sequentially to form a circular pattern. Once all of the User Cards have been programed press the ESC/ALARM button to exit the programing mode.

2.2.3. Additional notes

Once the autoconfig has been completed you can access the camera with the IP address announced in step 2.2.1. above using the credentials user: admin and password: <superPIN> (programed in step 2.2.2 above).

By going to the menu >Admin >Assign wires you can configure the pin-out for your door release, external lights, and any additional bell buttons.

Configuration of bell behavior, calling phases, contact numbers, and video mail box are done under >Admin >Bell Behavior and Video Mailbox.

It is also suggested to complete a complete back of each of the MxBus modules data. This can be completed under >Admin >Manage MxBus Modules and clicking on Advanced Backup and Restore button.

3. ConclusionFurther information about installation and setup of the MOBOTIX Door Station can be found in the manuals available at http://www.MOBOTIX.com/other/Support/Manuals/IP-Video-Door-Station.
