Go to http://www.dropbox.com/ and click on Watch a Video to learn more about Dropbox. Click the down arrow next to Log In and either click Create an account or log in with the email and password provided by your instructor. On an iTouch/iPad touch the Dropbox app. Enter the log in information (or it may take you directly to an account your instructors has set up for this class). In MyDropbox, you will see a list of files that have been uploaded to the account. Click on a file to view it. The “Getting Started” file gives you more information about Dropbox. Add and view files on your computer; on the iTouch/iPad you can view files and upload photos or videos. If you are using your own personal Dropbox account on a mobile device that isn’t your own, you can click on Settings in Dropbox and scroll to the bottom to select Unlink iTouch/iPad from Dropbox. Dropbox allows you to store files online and retrieve them on your mobile device or another

computer.

Go to http://www.dropbox.com/ and click on Watch a Video to learn more about Dropbox.

On an iTouch/iPad touch the Dropbox app. Enter the log in information (or it may take you directly to an account your instructors has set up for this class). Twitter allows you post short (140 character) messages and follow other postings.

On the iTouch/iPad touch the Twitter app to open it.

Enter your account log-in information or the account log-in provided by your instructor.

Review the Hands-On Exercises for Twitter.

View posts using the mobile version of Twitter.

Make a post using the mobile version of Twitter.

Sync allows you to transfer information between your computer and iTouch/iPad.

On an iTouch, use the Calendar app to enter a calendar entry for today. On the iTouch, use the Contact app to enter any contact.

(Review the article “Synchronize iTouch with iTunes and Outlook.”)

Synchronize your Outlook calendar and contacts with the iTouch.

Check the calendar and contact listings on the iTouch. Are they updated to include yours?

Check your Outlook calendar—did it update to include the new calendar entry for today and the new contact?

You can capture screen images on the iTouch/iPad as photos.

To capture the screen, hold down the Home button (directly below the touch screen) and at the same time press and release the On/Off Power button (at the top of the device). You may hear a clicking noise.

Next, touch the Photo app (on the first page). Click on Saved Photos to view the photos/screen images.

To move the images to a computer, you can use the Dropbox app (see details in instructions provided earlier).

In MyDropbox, touch the camera icon at the bottom of the display. Touch Existing Photo or Video. The Photo Albums will display and can touch the Saved Photos.

Next touch the image you want to upload to the Dropbox account. Repeat the process for any additional photos.

Finally go to a computer and log into www.dropbox.com. Log in to the account you used. The photo should be on the computer for you to insert in a document or transfer to a USB drive.

ri Safari is a web browser.

On the iTouch/iPad touch the Safari app on the bottom of the home screen to open it.

Type in the URL of your blog to see how it looks on a mobile device.

Bump allows you to transfer information wirelessly to another mobile device.

Your mobile device needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network.

On the iTouch/iPad, touch the Bump app to open it.

Enter your info (any phone number—you may make one up) and your first and last name. Touch Done when finished. Select “Don’t Allow” if asked about Push Notifications

Ask someone to sign in to bump on another mobile device.

To physically “bump” the devices, they don’t have to actually touch the devices together. Put your hand around the device. Move in a quick motion toward the other device lightly touching knuckles instead of devices.

You will receive a message, Connect with . . . ? Touch “yes” to transfer their contact information to your mobile device.

View the Contacts app on the iTouch/iPad to view the newly added contact.

When you are done, you can remove the contact, by selecting the contact and touching Edit. Then scroll down for a Delete Contact option. Touch this to remove the contact. Verify the contact is no longer on the device.

UYH allows you to write notes with your fingers.

On the iTouch/iPad touch the UYH app to open it.

No log-in is needed.

Touch the + symbol to open a new writing screen.

Use your finger to write on the screen.

To delete your handwriting, touch the words, and then touch Delete twice.

App Store allows you to search and install apps.

On the iTouch/iPad touch the App Store icon on the bottom of the home screen to open it.

Search for apps that may be helpful in your career. Start by categories. Productivity and Reference may be good categories to begin with.

Read the description for apps that interest you.

If you want to install a free app, select the app and have your instructor enter the iTunes account password.
