2016 Baby Net provides BF support in their packets for all babies born at
ProMedica Monroe as well as prenatal info to expecting parents.
ProMedica Monroe has added this to their Implementation Plan

Breastfeeding consultants are offered prenatally and post-natal
through PMRH and MCHD.
MCHD Breastfeeding Coalition has been restarted. First meeting was
May 17, 2016, and next meeting will be in July. Nursing students will
develop a survey and contact local businesses.
A BF workshop group meeting took place on 7-13-2016.
MCHD hiring part-time BF peer counselor to WIC staff in fall 2016.
MCHD BF classes through WIC will now be open to the all residents,
including non-WIC clients.
ProMedica Monroe is in the process of becoming a Baby-Friendly USA
designated hospital.

2016 Looking for volunteers to pull Resource Guide together.
Conversation with Farmers Market and the City of Monroe regarding
having MCHD at the Farmer’s Market.
Great Start will have Resource Guide available on website when

Discussed getting sponsors to help with the cost of printing resource
guide. MCHD will be getting a health education intern in January 2017
to help with this project.
Topic areas to include: organizations, trails, farmers markets, gyms,
parks. Define Target areas and audience.
Discussion was held regarding adding website links to existing
resources through BHC website, promoting BHC site as common
source for up-to-date wellness related resources in Monroe County.
Due to the fact that various printed guides are already produced by
other agencies, further discussion regarding target population will be
held in December.

Registered Dietitian in grocery stores
throughout Monroe County. Invite the seniors
and disabled populations to attend along with

YMCA hosting free after-school CATCH program (includes nutrition,
physical education, arts activities, etc.) at multiple schools

update information on Counseling sites. CMH is collaborating with
PMRH on the guide to provide for the public.
Initial meeting of Mental Health organizations to discuss youth mental

Additional mental health presentations from MCHD health educators
are available to schools during the 2016-2017 school year. These have
been promoted through HD brochures.
ProMedica has launched a fundraising campaign to create a mental
health resource guide. They exceeded their $20K goal by $4K, bringing
their total to $24,000. Money collected will be used towards creating
guide and online resource. Met and determined guide will be
distributed in January/February 2017, with website launched shortly
after.
ProMedica additionally plans to work with schools to determine their
needs related to mental health and is currently fundraising for this
effort.
