Dear Parents,

Staffing and Class Structures 2018 Next year brings with it some changes to our class structures and teaching staff. Decisions related to class structure are carefully considered in regard to student numbers and the learning needs of the students. With strategic planning well underway for next year and up to 2020, we are very confident that the school team of 2018 will reach our ambitious goals and in doing so, continue the improvement in student learning we are seeing across the entire school.

Miss Lisa Barber will be leaving our team next year to take up a position at Mary MacKillop College, Highfields. We know that she will take her St Patrick’s Allora experiences with her as she continues on her teaching journey. Our teaching team and school community have benefited from Miss Barber’s professionalism this year and we wish her well in all of her future endeavours.

This has resulted in Miss Holly Gilbar beeing appointed as a classroom teacher in 2018. Miss Gilbar was chosen as the successful applicant by the interview panel during the application and appointment process. Thank you to Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office Senior Education Leader, Mrs Suzanne Cavanagh; and St Francis de Sales Clifton Principal, Brendan O’Reilly for their part on the selection panel. Miss Gilbar is very excited about her appointment and looks forward to meeting with students and staff during a visit next Tuesday. We are sure that you will join us in welcoming her to our wonderful community.

Student Learning Data— A report will come home on Monday of next week indicating your child’s progress in the recent standardised testing that was conducted across the school. It is important that with the holidays approaching, that skills, particularly in reading, continued to be

reinforced of the holiday period. Please see your child’s teacher (current or 2018 teacher) for ideas about holiday ideas to support your child.

Graduation 2017 - Our end of year ceremony for this year will be held on the evening of the 28th November from 6pm. Mass celebrating the year’s achievements will be followed by the presentation of awards to our senior students. These awards are voted on by teachers and students and go to those who have consistently demonstrated the traits specific to the award being presented. The celebration will be followed by a short supper. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend.

Student Leadership Success— Congratulations to past students Mary Higgins and Ailish Wallace on recently being appointed as two of the four school captains at Assumption College in Warwick for 2018. We wish them well in their respective roles.

Swimming Carnival— This Friday, our school swimming carnival will be held at Allora Swimming Pool. Students who arrive at school will be walked to the pool by teachers at 8:50am with events beginning by 9:30am. Parents coming along to support students on the day, are welcome to supervise their children at the pool. A roll will be marked upon the teachers arriving at the school. Students must sit in their allocated areas. Students must have their swimming gear, a water bottle, food and hat for their day at the pool. Students may dress up in school colours (Rynne—red; Lynan—green; Hughes—blue). A barbeque will be provided by the P&F for the students. Parents taking their children early, must check in with classroom teachers to be marked off as absent. Students that aren’t under the supervision of their parents/carers, will be escorted back to school for end of school day procedures. We look forward to a great day of fun and competition.

Where does the time go?

It is hard to believe that

the 2017 school year is

almost over. I can truthfully say I have had a

wonderful time as I've watched the children of

Cunningham learn, grow and change from day to

day. I hope that all the things we've done have

helped in some small way.

I would like to thank parents for the efforts that they gave each week in listening to reading,

practicing spelling words and ensuring that homework was handed in on time. The time and ef-

forts given to these tasks make a huge difference. I wish everyone a Happy and Holy Christmas

and hope that you find some time to relax and enjoy your family during the Christmas break and I

look forward to seeing you next year.

Fete Success—Mr Paul Morris , on behalf of the Parish Fete Committee, attended our last P&F meeting and presented the school with a cheque for nearly $5000. Once again, this year’s fete was made successful by the wonderful collaboration between school and church communities, both of which make up our wonderful parish. We look forward to continuing this partnership in 2018 in putting together this wonderful community event.
