A very special thanks to all those who came to help clean the church and decorate it for Christmas. Your hard work

helped to create a beautiful and prayerful environment to celebrate our Christmas. Thanks too for all those who contributed their voice and talent in the various parish music ministry groups this Christmas. We appreciate your special gifts that help lift our hearts in prayer.

Christmas.....Pass it On! Fr. Rogelio and the entire parish staff wish all of you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas. As we gather with our families and friends to celebrate this great feast let us not forget those who may not have the same opportunity. So pass on the Christmas joy with someone who may be alone on Christmas or stop by a nursing home and drop off some goodies for the residents. The joy on their faces will be the most rewarding gift you will ever receive this Christmas. Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!!

Don’t forget to visit our website Missionsanjosechurch.org or our facebook page for more information about our Parish. Also, you can make safe on-line donations on our website by clicking on the “donate” tab. Thank you for your support!

The Hospitality Ministry at Mission San Jose

A Call for Men, Women, and youth to be

a hospitality minister/usher

Ushers and Greeters fill an important role in the service, one that contributes to the atmosphere of worship and the way people feel about our Church when they leave mass. As an usher, you greet people into the presence of God. You are the first face of God people see when arriving to the church. If current ushers want to help at this mass,

please let us know Training will be provided on Thursday, Jan.

12 @ 7pm Contact Deacon Chip @210-860-2723 or

Francisco Suniga at the parish office if you wish to join this ministry.

Thank you to all parents, guardians, students, catechists and all those

who help us throughout the Religious Education year. We have completed the first half of our Religious Education year and we still have work to do as students, parents, guardians and catechists. Yet, allow me to take a minute to say: Thank you to all! I continue to ask for prayers from the Mission San Jose Community, for our Religious Education Program. Our Catholic faith needs to flourish in our children, so that they may carry on the flame and light of the Holy Trinity. Christmas is a year round expectation, we should be vigilant, waiting for the coming of the Lord. We should not fall asleep or become indifferent to our Catholic faith, but embrace and learn it. May the peace and joy of this Christmas Season come into your homes and remain with our Mission San Jose community always. Please pray for our RCIA class as well, they are journeying closer to receiving their Sacraments as well. We are all catechists of the Catholic faith, by how we live, conduct ourselves, talk and treat others. We just might be the only bible anyone may encounter or the only image of Jesus anyone will see.

Francisco Suniga Jr., Coordinator of Religious Education

Today is born our Savior, Christ the Lord.

THE GIFT OF GOD’S WORD

On this day of gifts and gift‑giving, it seems appropriate that we take a moment to reflect on the great gift of God’s Word. Because it is creative, God’s Word always points to its author, always calls us to respond. Because it is powerful, God’s Word can link the sublime with the ridiculous, the transcendent with the immanent, the divine with the human. Because it is graceful, God’s Word establishes a relationship of deep intimacy between us and God.

At the heart of God’s Word lies a tantalizing tension between the mysterious and the mundane. In our liturgical celebration, this unresolved tension both reveals the meaning of life for us and calls us to respond, to act upon that meaning.

Once accepted and opened, the gift of God’s Word is a gift that keeps on giving and keeps on calling us to give in return. It dares us to be like the gift‑giver and to become gifts for others, not only at Christmas, but at every moment of life. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
