TARAH WHEELER Tarah Wheeler is one of Americarsquos leading cybersecurity experts as well as lead writer of Women in Techmdashcalled ldquothe essential handbook for women in technologyrdquo by Library Journal She was the cybersecurity czar at Symantecmdashone of the worldrsquos top cybersecurity firms with over $4 billion in sales and global leader in keeping private citizens and corporations safe from cyber attacks She is currently a Cybersecurity Policy Fellow at New America leading a new international cybersecurity capacity building project and also a contributing cybersecurity expert for The Washington Post and a Foreign Policy contributor on cyber warfare

Shersquos been named the top female cybersecurity influencer in the world by Onalytica A serial entrepreneur shersquos also a founder of Infosec Unlocked (an initiative to add diversity in Infosec conference speakers) the Women in Tech Council (to increase womenrsquos participation in tech conference speaking) and Hack the People Foundation (a nonprofit mentorship initiative focused on underprivileged people in technology) Tarah holds an MSc from Portland State University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a Certified Scrum Developer (CSD)

GARY PERKINS Gary Perkins is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Government of British Columbia As the Executive Director of the Information Security Branch he is responsible for providing cybersecurity services in support of the province He has over 20 yearsrsquo experience in information technology risk management and cybersecurity

Prior to joining the BC Government he worked in the private sector as chief of staff for security at TELUS and earlier in his career led teams responsible for incident response operations delivery and architecture for both corporate and managed security services customers A certified information systems security professional (CISSP) since 2004 Perkins also holds an MBA from Simon Fraser Universityrsquos Management of Technology program
