Dear family,

Peace be with you! Last weekend we kicked off Advent. Our first Sunday of Advent had pre-

pared us for the journey of these few weeks towards Christmas. We are invited to be vigilant

and to prepare ourselves inside for the arrival of the Christ child. Our readings the past couple

of weeks have had apocalyptic language, but looked at another way, we must ask ourselves

whether or not we’d be ready to meet the Lord.

In the Gospel for this Sunday, we hear another voice calling us to repentance. John the Baptist continues the Advent

journey of preparation with his calling out in the desert: “Prepare a way for the Lord, make straight his paths.” Yes,

make those paths straight which can seem so round about, so curvy, or full of obstacles. What “ways” is John the

Baptist speaking about? The ways and roads to our hearts.

Repentance and forgiveness: do not put up obstacles to those two vir tues. Do not block the chances that come

about in our daily lives for mercy and forgiveness; it is the only truth that we can live by.

Beginning on Monday, we will begin our Advent mission for the Hispanic Community. Please join us Monday-

Wednesday as Fr. Lalo speaks about the Mystery of the Incarnation: The one who is, who was, and is to come.

+ + + + + +

Our Advent Reconciliation Service will be held on Tuesday, December 18th 2018 beginning at 6:30PM. This will be a

wonderful opportunity for you to get to confession before the Christmas season dawns upon us.

That’s all for now! Have a blessed week!

In His Joy,

Fr. Leon J. Vigil †

Advent is a great time for us all to meditate on that coming of Jesus and the mercy He brings with Him. If Jesus

came today, would we be ready? Now is the time…we only have this moment, let us cease it.

Please join us for our parish celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at

6PM. Following Mass, we will head over to the hall for some tasty food and entertainment! Hope to see you all

Miracle of the Month Eucharistic Miracle of Chirattakonam, India

On April 28th, 2001 at St. Mary’s Church in

Chirattakonam, India, a wondrous miracle

occurred. That morning, they were celebrating

Eucharistic Adoration during the beginning of a

Novena to St. Jude Thaddeus. This began at

approximately 8:49a.m. During adoration, three

(3) small dots appeared on the Eucharist. The

priest, Fr. Johnson Karoor, and adorers all

noticed the dots but the priest instructed every-

one to remain in prayer. After adoration, Fr.

Johnson took the host with the three (3) dots

and placed it back in the Tabernacle. About

eight (8) days later, the host was removed from

the Tabernacle for adoration. The three (3) red

dots had arranged themselves to form an image

on the host. The image was that of the face of

Jesus with the crown of thorns! Fr. Johnson immediately asked one of the servers if he saw

anything on the host. The server replied with a definite “yes”. Fr. Johnson began adora-

tion as he normally did. It was during this time that the image of Jesus became clearer and

clearer. Later on, the priest asked a photographer to take pictures of the host. After each

subsequent photo taken, the image continued to become more defined. Interestingly

enough, the day that the full image of the face of Jesus became clear on the host, the read-

ing for the day was John 20:24-29. This reading was about Jesus appearing to St. Thomas

who had previously doubted his fellow apostles. To this day, the host remains in the

monstrance and is kept at the very same church. The miracle was verified by the Catholic

Church on May 5th, 2001.
