    Students come from an ex mining community that are very involved with sport within the school and the community itself. They take part in many extra curricular activities including Minsthorpe’s Got Talent and numerous sports. At Minsthorpe we have a community of students that are known as the ‘Gifted and Talented’ that go on trips outside of college and the college time table. This is done to further educate them and to help them with their career choices.

  • Extra Curriculum

    At Minsthorpe we hold many after school activities that the students can take part in such as:

    •Darts

    •Nintendo Wii Club

    •Sport- Football, Badminton, Tennis, Rugby, Trampolining, Netball and Hockey etc.

    • Pontefract holds a Liquorice festival once a year dedicated to its versatile plant. You can walk the streets full of street entertainers, magicians, circus performers, liquorice food and drink, talks on the history of liquorice and many craft and gift stalls.

    • Pontefract is also famous for the races.

  • Castleford

    Castleford holds Xscape full of excitement and action. You can experience the thrill of their indoor snow slope, real wave poolsurfing, rock climbing, adventure golf, bowling, laser games, Cineworld Cinema, bars, cafés, restaurants and many more.

  • Wakefield

    Wakefield is very famous for the theatre that is currently showing Cinderella and a Christmas brass band that are great for the family to go and see. You can also visit the art gallery that celebrates the area’s unique artistic legacy and explore the work of major contemporary artists.

  • Sheffield

    • Welcome to Sheffield

    The famous Arctic Monkeys are originally from Sheffield as well as other culturally aware musicians. Sheffield is rich in both student life and historical figures for example; Jessica Ennis, Sebastian Coe, Helen Sharman and Michael Palin to name a few.
