Mon - Fri: 7:30am - 5:00pm Windsor Plywood - Proud Sponsor of North Island Minor Hockey! The North Island Gazette and the following sponsors take this opportunity to introduce you to the teams of Minor Hockey on the North Island. G AZETTE NORTH ISLAND Minor Hockey North Island 2011 Hockey is a wonderful sport. The hub of most Canadian communities in the winter is often the arena, and it’s difficult to imagine a place kids are more excited to go to in their own town. Our minor hockey program on the North Island is a strong one, not only building community and skills within a town, but between towns as well. However, it takes more than we are giving it to keep it healthy. Our referee and coach numbers are very close to not being enough on the North Island, in all three towns. Our volunteer base to help in other areas is shrinking quickly, based upon the past three years. Without these, without your help, minor hockey cannot exist. You don’t need to have a child in minor hockey to help. We have a number of people in that situation who simply enjoy giving back to a game that gave them a lot or in helping to provide a constructive outlet for kids to develop. Watching a group of young hockey players grow and develop over a time span is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever known, and I invite anyone who wishes to be a part of it to come and do the same. All of the executive boards in all three towns need people who can help from behind the scenes. All of the teams are always welcoming of extra hands to help with needed activities, such as game clock and safety duties. As our number of new hockey players continues to swell, so too does our need for others to come and help. A chance to have a positive influence on the youth of our towns is one of the most valuable things I’ve ever known, and something that so many people can contribute to. It takes a village to raise a child, and we have some of the strongest villagers around. Come join us. Hockey is a wonderful sport. The hub of most Canadian communities in the winter is often the arena, and it’s diffi cult to imagine a place kids are more excited to go to in their own town.

A chance to have a positive infl uence on the youth of our towns is one of the most valuable things I’ve ever known, and something that so many people can contribute to. It takes a village to raise a child, and we have some of the strongest villagers around. Come join us.
