Hens overpower Wings 8-0 By Nick Sciarratta and Kevin Dougherty | Rochester Red Wings | May 13, 2015

Jefry Marte's fifth inning grand slam boosted the Toledo Mud Hens to an 8-0 win over the Rochester Red Wings Tuesday night at Frontier

Field.

The series concludes with a 1:35 pm matinee Wednesday afternoon; it's another $1 Wednesday, with $1 Zweigle's hot dogs, peanuts, chips,

and Cracker Jack. Plenty of parking is available for weekday afternoon games in the Kodak Office Plymouth Ave. Lot C, click here for our

directions and parking map.....Complete promotion details below...

Two of the top starters for their respective teams took the mound Tuesday night, with Taylor Rogersmatched up with the Tigers' top pitching

prospect, Buck Farmer. It was a pitcher's duel early, with the starters each striking out five batters and allowing no runs through four innings.

Rogers found himself in some trouble in the third inning, as a double steal led to Toledo threatening with runners on second and third with

one out. Rogers managed to settle down, striking out the next two batters to end the inning.

The Wings struggled at the plate throughout the night, managing only three hits through seven innings.

Rogers (2-2) found himself in another bind in the fifth inning, allowing a run to score on a one-out single. Rogers struggled to regain his

rhythm after giving up the run, loading the bases. With two outs in the inning, Rogers surrendered a grand slam to Jefry Marte, putting

Toledo ahead 5-0. Rogers' night ended after the fifth inning, having allowed eight hits, five runs, with seven strikeouts and three walks. He

threw 101 pitches, 61 for strikes.

Farmer's night was over after six strong innings. He gave up three hits, two walks, and struck out seven on 99 pitches, 65 of which were

strikes. He was leading the league with 40 strikeouts coming into the game. He improved his record to 4-1 with the win.

Lester Oliveros and Caleb Thielbar each pitched a hitless, scoreless relief inning. Tim Stauffer, with the Wings on a rehab assignment from

Minnesota, retired the side in the eighth inning, his only inning of work.

Ryan O'Rourke worked the ninth for Rochester, allowing the final three Toledo runs.

The Mud Hens out-hit the Wings 12-4. Argenis Diaz had two of the Wings' hits.

Chattanooga Lookouts win 4-0 after 3-2 loss

Chattanooga Times Free Press | May 13, 2015

Chattanooga Lookouts pitchers Madison Boer, Cole Johnson and D.J. Johnson allowed only one hit apiece and Max Kepler and Jorge

Polanco combined for five hits and three runs scored in a 4-0 win that followed a 3-2 loss to the Barons in Tuesday's Southern League

doubleheader at Birmingham.

Joey DeMichele's home run to right-center field off Zack Jones in the bottom of the eighth propelled Birmingham to victory in the first

scheduled seven-inning game. Chattanooga (19-13) had tied it in the seventh when Adam Walker led off with a single to center, Kepler

doubled to left field and a Heiker Meneses groundout plated Walker.

The second game was scoreless until Polanco doubled to lead off the fourth inning and scored on a throwing error after Miguel Sano's

flyout to center field. Polanco singled with one out in the sixth, stole second base, took third on a throwing error and scored on a wild

pitch.

The Lookouts doubled their margin again without an RBI in the seventh, when Walker walked with one out, Kepler singled him to third

and stole second and both scored when Byron Buxton reached base on pitcher Kyle Hansen's throwing error.

Game four of the six-game series in Birmingham is today at noon. Jose Berrios (3-1, 3.25 ERA), who leads the Southern League with 45

strikeouts, is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts; Miles Jaye (2-1, 3.17) is scheduled for the Barons.
