Institutionalizing Peace Education in Basic Education and Teachers Education
Section 1 . Policy Statement
Peace Education shall be anchored on:1. values and principles of spirituality2. human rights3. non-violence4. social justice5. interfaith6. human security
Section 2. Institutionalization Principles
a. Be in harmony with educational priorities and inter’l commitments related to a culture of peace and dev’t;
b. Be pursued through a holistic approach involving pre-service and in-service trainings, school-based and alternative learning and technical education; and,
c. Involve the participation of all types of schools.
Section 3. Definition of Terms

and etc.]
Objectives of Institutionalization of Peace
Education1. To ensure that education
contributes to the attainment of a culture of peace in the country.
2. To strengthen the partnership between government and civil society as well as among all types of learning environments and stakeholders in promoting and implementing peace education.
3. To ensure that Peace Education Materials [instructional, learning and advocacy] are developed and used.

Roles, Functions and Responsibilities

1. Take lead in mainstreaming Peace Education in the basic education and ALS;
2. Make available to all teachers and ALS implementers the Peace Education Exemplars;
3. Conduct In-service training advocacy and info dissemination
4. Develop the needed training modules to facilitate the indigenization of these materials;
5. Issue policies and guidelines in the use of Peace Education Exemplars in schools and ALS;
6. Establish networks and promote dialogue and cooperaton;
7. Organize Peace Education Circles/Teams in the region, division and school levels;
8. Encourage and nurture local peace initiatives, such as: peace congress or peace camps; and,
9. Monitor and evaluate feedback on the process of implementation.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION1.Monitoring shall be done semi-annually
to identify concerns and problems while Evaluation will be conducted annually to measure the progress and impact of peace education program in target areas.
2. DEPED shall conduct monitoring and evaluation in basic education and ALS.
3. CHED shall conduct M&E in Teacher Education Institutions.
4. The NEDA shall complement this function by ensuring that these education efforts are aligned with the education policies and programs stipulated in the national dev’t plans. It shall also advocate for appropriate budgetary allocations among agencies with peace education programs.
5. Each of the implementing agencies [OPPAP, DEPED & CHED] shall appoint focal division/office within their agencies. The focal division/office shall then appoint representative [s] to the appropriate TWGs. These representatives shall report on the programs and activities implemented by their agencies. The secretariat [OPPAP] shall consolidates monitoring and evaluation reports.
