2017, and remind anyone who has yet to enroll at Millthorpe for 2017 that places are available.
Performance night OMG! Performance night has crept up on us really quickly! Teachers and students have had their creative performance hats on, and have come up with an uproarious performance for you all to enjoy next Thursday night, 24th November, at 6.30pm in the hall. Make the effort to come along and have some fun as we celebrate the end of another wonderful year at our beautiful school.
Assembly Our next assembly is a Primary one, however the time may have to be changed as Stage 3 are off to visit Cadia on 25th. Watch this space for more details.
Wreaths for Remembrance Day Thanks to Libby Riemers for the beautiful wreath which our Leaders were able to lay at the Remembrance day ceremony last week.
Headlice - is back, please treat.
Kind Regards,
Jo Jackett
Premier’s Spelling Bee It was an absolute pleasure to be able to attend the Premiers Spelling Bee finals at the Eugene Goosens hall at the ABC Centre last Wednesday, to watch Finn Tayl0r in action. Finn has nerves of steel and fantastic spelling skills.
The competition started with 130,000 students, who were eliminated in local school and regional finals to leave 43 nervous spellers facing Juanita Phillips, ABC news reader, and the last 8 rounds of tricky words to spell.
In round one 7 students were eliminated. Finn spelt magenta correctly, and moved into round two with the remaining 36 students.
In round two, 2 more students fell victim to tricky words, Finn spelt fajita correctly, and made it into round three with 34 students.
In round three the words got harder still, with several students biting the dust, but not Finn! He spelt Gerrymander correctly to move to round four with approx. 30 students.
Round four saw three more students leave the knock-out, including Finn, who was successful to be one of the 30 top spellers in the State!
We are all so proud of Finn, and I really loved the experience...big thanks to Mrs Webster, who made it all possible by being our school spelling bee coordinator.
Fancy a night out ? Josh Maynard, an excellent young musician will be performing in the school hall on Friday 18th, at 7pm. Tickets are only $10 at the door. Josh played in Bathurst recently at the Inland Sea of Sound festival, to great acclaim. Bring the kids, and have a relax.
Chess Our senior chess team is off to Yass on Thursday 17th to play in the semi-finals of the country schools competition. The boys have already won Western Region, and will now face off against other country schools for the State title. Good luck boys! My thanks for the Great coaching from Mr Cummings.

Stage 1 Excursion
Excursion
Last Thursday Year 1 and Year 2 went on an excursion to the Japanese Gardens. When we got there we ate
our recess then headed in. When people were going to the toilet we saw ducks that were grey.
There were activities for us to do. There was feeding koi carp fish, flying kites, trying sushi and finally filling
out work sheets. Then we went to the Fish Museum. We filled out work sheets and read a book. If you’re
wondering how hot it was, I’ll tell you…it was boiling!
