Finn has nerves of steel and fantastic spelling skills. The competition started with 130,000 students, who were eliminated in local school and regional finals to leave 43 nervous spellers facing Juanita Phillips, ABC news reader, and the last 8 rounds of tricky words to spell. In round one 7 students were eliminated. Finn spelt magenta correctly, and moved into round two with the remaining 36 students. In round two, 2 more students fell victim to tricky words, Finn spelt fajita correctly, and made it into round three with 34 students. In round three the words got harder still, with several students biting the dust, but not Finn! He spelt Gerrymander correctly to move to round four with approx. 30 students. Round four saw three more students leave the knock-out, including Finn, who was successful to be one of the 30 top spellers in the State! Premier’s Spelling Bee It was an absolute pleasure to be able to attend the Premiers Spelling Bee finals at the Eugene Goosens hall at the ABC Centre last Wednesday, to watch Finn Tayl0r in action.

Stage 1 Excursion

Excursion

Last Thursday Year 1 and Year 2 went on an excursion to the Japanese Gardens. When we got there we ate

our recess then headed in. When people were going to the toilet we saw ducks that were grey.

There were activities for us to do. There was feeding koi carp fish, flying kites, trying sushi and finally filling

out work sheets. Then we went to the Fish Museum. We filled out work sheets and read a book. If you’re

wondering how hot it was, I’ll tell you…it was boiling!
