High tides

A high tide happens when a first or third quarter moon is up and it forces the water out. Low TidesBy Brendan PersickettiThe tides are caused by the moon swaying and turning. When the moon turns toward us, the tides are high but when it turns away the tides are stretched and are low. Tides are usually around 6 hours apart. The moon stretches the water out and makes it wider but lower. That is basically how the tides are made. It pulls on all water, everywhere. That is how tides form.

The Maria is filled with dark solid Lava that was there from earlier times of the lunar volcanism. They are the dark parts of the moon. The back side of the moon that we dont see is the far side and there are barely any Marias on that side.

Galileoby Micaela Wilner Galileo was born in Italy on February 15th 1564. The year 1609 he studied astronomy and looked through his home made telescope and found the moon. Similar to a globe, the moon looked like it had sea, land, mountains, and rivers, even though there isnt any water on the moon. Galileo made drawings of the faces of the moon which we know are full moon, new moon, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, first quarter moon, second quarter moon, waxing crescent, and waning crescent.Galileo found there were craters on the moon formed by asteroids crashing into the moon.He has made a fantastic invention that a lot of people use today. The invention was the telescope he made. He tried to tell people that if you look through the telescope they could see the moon but they didnt believe him. So he went to Rome and they looked in his proof and saw the moon. Then he finally convinced the people in Italy about the telescope. He is a very famous today from what he did.

The Moons orbit around the Earth takes about 27.3 days to go around. The Earth is always seeing one side of the Moon when it is in its rotation. The Earths gravity is the thing that keeps the Moon in the orbit around Earth. The Moon goes around the Earth in a circle. The Moon is 384,000 km away.

The Moon isnt perfectly round. There is a huge bulge on the Earth-facing side, called the near-side, and a huge bulge on the far side too. You can only see the man on the moon when the moon is full. The mans eyes are the Mare Imbrium and the Mare Serenitatis, its nose is the Sinus Aestuum, and its grinning mouth is the Mare Nubium and Mare Cognitum.

Sea of Tranquility The sea of tranquility is alunar mare and that sits beyond the basin of the moon.

What is a Lunar Eclipse?What happens during the Lunar Eclipse? In a Lunar Eclipse the entire Moon passes through Earths shadow. These events are striking because of the moons red color during the total phase. We see a circular bite taken out of the moon. A dark arc slowly grows. The Lunar Eclipse is a specific type of eclipse. Lunar Eclipse doesnt look the same every time like a example these pictures. Some of these pictures have the darkness covering half the moon, then a little bit less then of the moon, then of the moon.

A Waxing Gibbous is a very strange name and I think it is one of my favorite moon phases. I hope that we will see a waxing gibbous phase early this month!

The full moon is when the moon makes all through all of the six stages then it will all go back into a full moon. The moon goes through so many phases there are nine phases through the whole thing and it takes the moon one month to get back to the full moon again.!!

Neil Armstrong. IT also took Buzz Aldrin to the moon. This event occurred on July 20, 1969. THIS event was one of the biggest events. They hooked cameras on the ship before time and thats where we get the photos from. What about the LUNAR MODULE?

What is the 1st quarter moon?The 1st quarter moon is seen at sunset. The light is on the right side of the moon and the dark side is on the left. The moon in this pictures below are all a waxing 1st quarters. A 1st quarter moon is one of 8 phases of the moon. In the sky when you see the first quarter moon that means the sun is lighting up only half of the moon. The moon never changes its shape the sun just shines on different spots.

24Waning Gibbous The Waning Gibbous is a phase of the moon. The Waning Gibbous is when the moon only has a little piece showing. When the moon is Waning it means it is decreasing or going down. The opposite of Waning is Waxing which means the moon is getting bigger.

Imbrium BasinWith a diameter of 1160 kilometers, the Imbrium Basin, the largest basin on the near-side of the moon, is a sight that can be seen from 221,463 miles away! That would have to be really big to be seen from such a distance! It is the right eye of the man on the moon. There are also things inside of the Imbrium Basin, including the Mare Imbrium.
