Many employers still have reservations about hiring and working with Millennials because of the way this generation has grown up with social media, technology and collaboration.

However, hasn’t each generation been skeptical of the new generations taking over?

• M I L L E N N I A L S : 93% of Millennials say they want a job where they can be themselves at work, which often results in flexible dress code and the elimination of traditional work hours.

S O LU T I O N : Flexibility and a desire for feedback may seem daunting to some employers, but when their talent is harnessed and encouraged, Millennials can fuel the workplace culture and ultimately lead to success of the company.

Millennials want to be engaged in the workplace and feel valued for their contributions. In fact, 60% said a sense of purpose is part of the reason they chose to work with their current employer.

However, the average tenure of Millennial employees is currently only 2 years.

T H E P R O B L E M : Most companies are failing to provide them with the work environment they desire.

The main reason a Millennial will leave a company is because they feel they are not receiving any personal growth.

In fact, only 28.9% say that they are engaged at work.

Communicate clearly and effectively with Millennials, and allow them to be part of decisions in the workplace.

Meet with your employees at least monthly to go over what they’re doing well and where they can improve, and give them the opportunity to voice any concerns. Let the workplace be a place for growth and improvement.

Millennials have grown up working in teams. They’re good at it. Give them plenty of opportunities to make group decisions and brainstorm together.

Millennials don’t like ambiguity. Give clear guidelines with every task, and they’ll amaze you with their results.

Millennials know technology. Integrate various tools and innovations in the workplace in order for them to work their best.
