Dear Parents and Community
What a flying start to the year we have
had. It is already Week 4, we are finishing
up with swimming lessons this week and
Easter is fast approaching! Both
classrooms are very busy and I am so glad
to see happy, smiling faces when I walk
through, not only on the children’s faces,
but the teachers too!
Thank-you and Welcome
A huge thank-you and an even bigger
welcome to our new cleaner, Brenda
Andrews. Brenda was a wonder woman
earlier this term when she stepped in
during our hour of need and started her
amazing work here at Miling. Brenda will
be around the school every a+ernoon, so
please say hello if you see her. We hope
she enjoys her -me here at Miling - we are
definitely grateful to have her.
Swimming Lessons / Carnival
As we go to press, the children are
finishing up their final day of swimming
lessons. We have been very lucky with the
weather this year and the children have
really enjoyed each day. I am also
impressed with the behaviour of our
students both at the pool and in transit.
We are also smashing our ‘ge2ng
changed’ records and not losing any items
of clothing which is fantas-c! A special
thanks to those Mums who helped us out
in the first week with travel, and to
Michelle Barnard who drove the second
bus for Weeks 2 and 3. Thank you also to
Mrs Dennis who drove the bus every day.
The Swimming Carnival will be held on
Friday 18th
March in Week 7. Dandaragan
are hos-ng this year and I will send out
informa-on as I receive it.
Website
We are almost up and running and I hope
to have our website ready to go ‘live’
some-me next week. It is looking fantas-c
and I would like to thank Peta Thorniley for
all of her hard work and -me that has
gone into the crea-on, as well as her
update of our school newsle:er format.
This a+ernoon, our staff will undertake
some training to use the website, which
will make it easier for them to upload
informa-on and photos about what is
happening at school and in the classrooms.
More informa-on will come home next
week.
Junior Assembly
Next week, on Thursday 3rd
March, we will
have our first Assembly for the year, with
the Junior Room presen-ng an item. Our
new Student Leaders will have their first
chance to lead our Assembly and I wish
them all the best. Following the Assembly,
the P&C will hold their AGM. We hope to
see you all there.
Kindys
Our three new Kindy children, Skye, Rory
and Tyler have se:led in so well and are
already picking up the rou-nes and rules in
the classroom. They are now a:ending
two full days and are having a ball with
Mrs Lehmann in the Junior Room. I am so
impressed with their manners and the way
they are playing so nicely in the
playground.
Regards

♦ I recently asked a student where his homework was. He replied “It’s still in my pencil.”
♦ My sixth-grade class would not leave me alone for a second. It was a constant stream of “Ms
Osborne, Ms Osborn, Ms Osborn, Ms Osborn.” Fed up, I said firmly, “Do you think we could go
for just five minutes without anyone saying Ms Osborne?” The classroom got quiet. Then from
the back, a soft voice said “Um … Cyndi?”
♦ On the last day of the year, my first graders gave me beautiful handwritten letters. As I read
them aloud, my emotions got the better ofme, and I started to choke up. “I’m sorry”, I said.
“I’m having a hard time reading.” One of my students said, “Just sound it out!”
Mavericks Junior Football
If your child is in year 4 to 7 and is interested in playing Football this season
a registration and first training day will be at 4pm, Thursday March 3rd, at the
Moora town Oval.
If a parent or guardian can accompany the children so that we can get all neces-
sary details that would be great.
For any other information feel free to call Dean McCuish on 0439048372 or post a
message on the Mavericks Junior face book page.
