Midwest Fjord Horse Club www.mwfhc.org winter 2011 F jords are for all seasons and it's a good thing especially for all of us in the Midwest who are soon to be covered in the beautiful white stuff!!! But, we also get the cold, not something we all love. But, I think our beloved Fjords LOVE win- ter, where many of us would just as soon like to move south, they love it when it gets cold and snowy. I'm sure all your Fjords are like mine, hairy and fluffy, as they are getting ready for the cold and snow. If you are an outside person, you can go on sleigh rides with your Fjords, do Ski Joering with them, or even just trail ride in the deep fluffy stuff, makes for a great work out for the horse! If you are not an outside person in winter, I hope you an at least enjoy your fuzzy Fjord during winter, even if just watching them playing and en- joying the snow. AND, remember soon we'll have Spring and something even better to look forward to is the MWFHC'S winter meeting set for March 12/13 in Winona, MN. Always a great time of see- ing friends, making new friends and just Talking fjords. plus you can learn a few new things that you can apply back home to your own Fjord. We have a full weekend of great activities and demos planned. You won't want to miss it!! Then after our winter meeting, the horse fairs start up. Wisconsin, Minnesota, just to name a few, you will see Fjords at many of Horse Fairs across the US come spring. At our summer meeting July '10 it was announced that if you attend a horse fair with your Fjord(s) and there are at least 5000 people that come to that fair, the club will give you $100 to help with expenses. This is another way the club is trying to help educate not only our members but others as well. We all know that bringing Fjords out in the public eye is great advertisement for the breed. Then after the horse fairs start up and end, show season starts and that includes our breed show. As most of you know by now, we will be hosting our show in Cedar Rapids IA, dates are July 16,17,18. Notice this a a Saturday, Sunday, Monday show. We will arrive on Friday, show the next 3 days and then depart. The departing always comes way too quick in my book. Listing all the events in a year reminds me of all that we did in '10 and it seems like just yesterday we were at our winter meeting in Fitchburg, with Joni giving a demonstration on Ski Joering and then so many gave it a whirl behind Voss or Jock. That was a hoot to watch. We had Peggy Spear there too with her awesome horses Dutch and Uljar. We had great sessions on feed and vet care. Then we had some of the largest horse fairs of all times, what great exposure for the Fjords. That brought us to our 25th anniversary show and WOW, what a great show that was and the performance we did Tuesday night for the com- munity, was a wonderful memory maker! I'm so ex- cited for 2011 but also nervous, anxious and humbled. Humbled because without our majestic breed none of this would have happened. I'm very grateful and blessed to be involved with such a great breed and fellowship amongst such wonderful Fjord owners. So, thank you all for being a member, thank you to all who have or who are currently volunteer- ing to help with the club. AND... anyone who would like to get more involved I'd love to talk to you, we can always use new folks! It has been a great ride in '10 and I'm looking for- ward to 2011, it's a blank slate right now, but soon it will be full of Club Activities, that I hope you will share in as we continue on our ride! MWFHC Winter Meeting to Be Held in Winona

March 12-13, 2011 is the weekend you need to circle on your calendar. This is the weekend next March for theMWFH'S winter meeting! After a change in plans, we have scheduled our winter meeting at the beautifulMinnesota Equestrian Center in Winona, MN. We have a big line up of activi-

ties and demonstrations planned. You will not want to miss this!!

We have a hands on workshop set for Friday night, where you will be working withleather , DeeAnna Weed will be our instructor. This is open for everyone and we'llhave more information out as we get closer, but this will just be the start of all our funand learning. DeeAnna is a wealth of information so not only will she share some ofher knowledge, we're gonna toss some fun out there too, with making bling halters orbridles.

Saturday we'll have our meeting, we'll have several demonstrations on how our Fjords work in the real world, beyond thetrails or show ring. We all love our Fjords and we all do different things with our them. I'd like to bring a few of ourmembers out and show everyone just some of the uses that our beloved Fjords can do. But.... have no fear we'll gonnahave something for those that do show, a fashion show! And... if this wasn't all enough, we will have a used tack sale.So... clean out those closets, the barn, the garage and bring them to the winter meeting. A small commission will go tothe club, but What a great way to find some new tack for your horses, from another Fjord owner!

Don't want to give it all away, but trust me it will be the place you'll want to be in March. Again, March 12-13, 2011.Mark your calendar!! Want to see the place ahead of time? Go to /www.minnesotaequestrian.com.
