Saturday 14th JuneSigning-on and ScrutineeringInpreparationforourNordicadventureweshallgatheronSaturday14thJuneinGöteborg,Sweden’ssecondcity,establishedinthe17thCenturyasastrategicseaportwithmanyDutch,GermanandScottishinfluences;ifyouarriveearlyyoumayexploreitsmanygreenspaces,galleriesandmuseums, including one devoted to the Volvo car company, foundedherein1927,orperhapsevenvisittherenownedLisebergamusementpark,thelargestinScandinavia,whichislocatedintheheartofthecity.TherewillbeyetmoreexcitementatRallyHQ,wherecarcollection,signing-onandscrutineeringwillbefollowedbyacompetitors’briefingandnoviceswillbeofferedadedicatedsessiononthebasicsofrallytimingandnavigation.ThiseveningweshallmeetfordrinksandawelcomedinnerwhereyoucangettoknowyourfellowparticipantsandtheRallyRoundsupportteam.

Day 1 - Sunday 15th JuneGöteborg to Karlstad (360km)Ourjourneybegins!FlaggedawayfromGötenborg,therallyheadsnorththenfollowsthewestcoastoftheVänern-thelargestinlandlakeinSweden-beforepausingforaleisurelycoffeeattheSaabCarMuseuminpicturesqueTrollhättan.Ifyoucanresistthetemptationtoemulatethecity’smost

famousson,legendaryworksSaabrallydriverErik‘ontheroof’Carlsson,agentlefirstregularitysectionwillbringyousafelytolunchinthelitt lelakesidetownofMellerud,whichboastsanotherwonderfulmuseum.FromhereasecondregularitysectionaroundthelakedeliversustoourovernnighthaltinthefamouslysunnycityofKarlstad.

Day 2 - Monday 16th JuneKarlstad to Falun (320km)Webeginourseconddayonsmoothgraveltracksthroughaforest,providingopportunitiesforsomegreatregularitysectionswithplentyofentertainingchallengesfornavigators.Just30minuteseastofKarlstadwepassthroughthetownofKristinehamn,wheretheworld’ssecond-tallestPicassosculpturestandsontheshoreofLakeVänern.You’llhavetimetotakeafewartyphotosherebeforewedriveontolunchatthebeautifulSäfsenResort.Theafternoonregularitycompetitionmixessmoothforesttracksandlakesidetarmac

andtherewillbemoreautomotiveentertainmentinthevillageofTorsång,whichhasacharmingmotormuseum.OurovernightdestinationisthecityofFalun,bestknownforthecopperminethatoperatedfromthe10thCenturyuntiltheearly1990s,providingasmuchastwothirdsofEurope’sneeds.Themineisnowamuseum,designatedaUNESCOWorldHeritageSitein2001,andweintendtofinishearlysoyouwillhavetimetoexplorethemineandhearthespookystoryofFet-MatsIsraelsson,the‘petrifiedminer’discoveredin1719.Perhapscoincidentally,Falunisalsothehomeofseveralheavymetalrockbands.

Day 3 - Tuesday 17th June Falun to Sundsvall (375km)HeadingeastthismorningwereachtheBalticseaandfollowthestunningcoastlinenorth,overloookingtheGulfofBothnia.IntheprettyvillageofSundbornyouwillhaveanopportunitytovisitLitt leHyttnäs,thedelightfulhomeof

ArtsandCraftserapainterCarlLarsson,beforedrivingontoarefreshmentstopinGävle,thehomeofGevaliaCoffee.SingerCatStevenslivedhereafterhisparents’divorce,butthetown’smostfamousresidentissurelyGävlebocken(TheGävleGoat),ahugestrawanimalthatiserectedeveryyearatAdventandfrequentlyburneddown.Late-morningregularitysectionsprecedeawaterfrontlunchinthecoastaltownofHudiksvallandthenwecontinuenorthalongtheBalticshore,dippinginlandtoenjoysometwistylakesideroadsbeforereturningtothecoast,withoccasionalglimpsesofFinland.OurovernighthaltisinthecityofSundsvall,whichhostsapopularmusicfestivaleachJuly.

Day 4 - Wednesday 18th JuneSundsvall to Umeå (350km)Ourroutetodaycontinuesalongthecoast,throughtrulyspectacularscenery.ThetownofHärnösandmarksthestartoftheHighCoast,designatedaUNESCOWorldHeritageSiteforitsuniquelandscape,characterizedbyredNordingrågraniterocksandcliffs.Theareastretchesfor100km,withgreatdrivingroadsandfabulousseaviews.EnroutewecrossthemassiveHögaKustenBridge,oneofSweden’stalleststructures;itis1,867mlongandtookfouryearstobuild.TheHighCoastisalsohometoSweden´smostpeculiardelicacy,surströmming,orfermentedBalticherring.Thishasoneofthemostpungentsmellsofanyfoodstuffintheworld,sothesqueamishmaybegratefulthattheyear’sfirstbatchisnotreleasedbeforethethirdThursdayinAugust.ForlunchtodaywewillvisitMannaminne,afascinatingoutdoormuseumof50historicbuildingstransportedandrebuiltoveralifetimebyartistAndersÅberg;therearevintageandclassiccarshere

Day 5 - Thursday 19th JuneUmeå (Rest Day)EuropeanCityofCulturein2014,Umeåisamajoruniversitytownandifyourcar-fett lingobligationsarenottooonerousyouwillfindplentyofthingstoseeanddohere.Youmayofcoursespendthedayrelaxingatthehotelspa,butformusicfanstheguitarmuseumisamust,withexhibitslinkedtoPaulMcCartney,Madonna,NeilYoung,DavidBowie,TheRollingStones,DebbieHarry,Nirvana,PattiSmith,RayDavies,BruceSpringsteen,RodStewartandmanymore.Thereislivemusictobefoundheretoo,fromoperatojazz,heavymetalandpunk,andplentyofcafes,restaurantsandbars;youwillhaveafreeeveningtoexplorethematleisure.

Day 6 - Friday 20th JuneUmeå to Luleå (360km)ContinuingournorthwardjourneytowardstheArcticCircle,achallengingmorningregularitysectionleadsustothetownofRobertsfors,namedafteraScotsmanwhofoundedanironworksherein1751.Todayitisbetterknownforamusic

schoolandfortheKingdomofCheese,whereyoumaytourthefactorythatproducesVästerbotten,afavouritegourmetaccompanimenttocrayfishorpickledherring.Ifcheeseisnotyourfirstchoiceatthistimeofthemorning,youmayrelaxwithcoffeeandcakebeforewedriveonintoeverwilderscenery.AtSkellefteaweenterSwedishLapland,withitsdenseforests,countlesslakes,salmonriversandmilesofstunningcoastline.Withmanyopportunitiesforwonderfulregularitysections,youcanbesureofagreatday’sdriving,nottomentionafabulouslunchattheGästgivargårdRestaurantinByske.Thisafternoon’sroutetakesustoournighthaltinLuleå,butwewillstoptherallyclocksattheUNESCOWorldHeritage-listedchurchtownofGammelstad,themedievalcentreofnorthernSweden,sothatyoumayexplorethe15thCenturyNederluleåchurch,whichhasawonderfullyopulentpulpitandanaltarpieceworthyofacathedral;itissurroundedby424woodenhouseswhereworshipperswouldbeaccommodatedonSundaysiftheirhomesweretoofardistant.

Day 7 - Saturday 21st June Luleå to Rovaniemi (320km) TodayweenterFinlandandtheArcticCircle.Ourroutetakesus east around the top of the gulf, hugging the coast on spectacularroadswithtwoentertainingregularitysectionsbeforewereachthebordercrossingatHaparandathenstopforourfirstFinnishlunchinTervola.Withjust187daysuntilChristmasyoumaycompleteallyourseasonalshoppingatSantaClausVillage,justoutsideRovaniemi,wherewealsoofficiallycrosstheArcticCircle;youcanobtainacertificatetoprovethatyoudidso.AstheofficialhomeofSantaClausthevillageisentirelydedicatedtoChristmasandtheday’srallytimingfinishesheresoyoumayliterallyspendaslongasyoulikelookingaround-havingreachedthislatitudewearenowblessedwith24hoursofdaylight(todayisactuallytheSummerSolstice)sodon’tforgettosleep!TothatendyouwillfindblackoutcurtainsinyourroomatthefabulousArcticTreeHouseHotel,wherewearestayingfortwo‘nights’.

Day 8 - Sunday 22nd JuneRovaniemi (Rest Day) Inhabitedsincethe7thCenturyBC,RovaniemiisthecapitalofLapland.Itwasalmostdestroyedin1944butisnowapopulartouristdestination.StandingsoclosetotheArcticCircle,manylocalattractionsarethemedalongthisline;theArktikummuseumofArcticlifeiswellworthavisitandnumerousotherlandmarksincludebuildingsdesignedbyrenownedFinnisharchitectAlvarAalto.

Day 9 - Monday 23rd JuneRovaniemi to Inari (370km)Drivingnorthweentereverwilderterritory-thelandoftheSamipeople.Mostlivebyfishing,sheepfarmiingandfurtrappingbutsomestillrelyonnomadicreindeerherding;youareverylikelytomeetsomeofthemtoday.WefirstvisittheTankavaaraGoldMuseum,whereyoumayindulgeinalitt le

retailtherapybeforelakesideroadsbringustolunchattheKakslauttarenHotelinSaariselkä,wherealocaldelicacywillbepreparedforyou.MorescenicregularitysectionsthenleadustoourhotelatInari,acentreofSamiculture.

Day 10 - Tuesday 24th JuneInari to Lakselv (190km)Wehavearelativelyshortdrivetoday,soyoumayenjoyaleisurelybreakfastbeforesettingoutonaspectacular

regularitysectionaroundthefjords,followedbyaFinnishbarbecueinthevillageofGiellajohka.ContinuingnorthwecrossintoNorway,enjoyingmoreregularitysectionsonroadsthattwistandturnamidcountlesslakes.WewillarriveearlyatournighthaltinthevillageofLakselv,situatedatthesouthernendofNorway’sfourthlargestfjord,sotherewillbetimeforastrollorperhapsalitt lefishingbeforedinner.

Day 11 - Wednesday 25th JuneLakselv to Hammerfest (398km)ThismorningwewillreachtheNordkapp,a307mcliffoverlookingtheBarentsSeathatnowgivesitsnametothe

surroundingmunicipality.KnownastheNorthCapewhenEnglishseafarerRichardChancellorcamethiswaysearchingfortheNortheastPassagein1553,thisdramaticheadlandstandsjust2,102kmfromtheNorthPole.ItisnotquitethenorthernmostpointofEuropebutcertainlyasfarasyoucan drive - it feels as if you are approaching the edge of the world.Fromherewehavenootherchoicebuttoturnbackandheadsouth,initiallystoppingforlunchinHonningsvåg,aNorsesett lementfirstinhabitedmorethan10,000yearsago.TheKingCrabHouseBrasserieservesthebestkingcrabintownandisnottobebemissed(althoughthereareothermenuoptionsifyouprefer).OurafternoondriveincludesmoreregularitysectionsamongthemanydelightfulfjordsenroutetoHammerfest,homeoftheRoyalandAncientPolarBearSociety,wherewewillspendthenight.Thetown’snameactuallyreferstoamooringplace(inOldNorseliterallya‘rocks-fastening’)andin1891itgainedthedistinctionofbeingthefirsttowninnorthernEuropetohaveelectricstreetlighting-notessentialwhilethemidnightsunshinesbutagreatcomfortinthedepthsofpolarwinter.

Day 12 - Thursday 26th JuneHammerfest to Alta (189km)Alatestartthismorningallowsyoualie-inbeforebreakfastandachancetoexploreHammerfestbeforeweresumeoursouthwardjourney.Weshalltakethe2,298mStallogargoTunnel,wherecarefuldrivingisrecommendedasreindeer

sometimesuseittoshelterfromthesun-indeedtheyclosedthetunnelcompletelyinAugust2014.PressingonthroughspectacularNordicwildernessweshallstopforcoffeeatSkaidithencontinueontotheAltaFjordandlunchinthevillageofRafsbotn.Today’srallytimingwillfinishamidthethousandsofprehistoricrockcarvingsattheUNESCOWorldHeritageSiteofHjemmeluft(JiepmaluoktaintheNorthernSamilanguage,meaning‘bayofseals’).Providingevidenceofhumanactivityfromaround5000BC,thesepetroglyphsincludevividdepictionsofanimalsandscenesoffishing,huntingandritual.ThereismoretoseeinthenearbyWorldHeritageRockArtCentre,closetoourovernighthaltinAlta.

Day 13 - Friday 27th JuneAlta to Tromsø (309km)AnunforgettabledrivingdayawaitsasweleaveAlta,huggingtheshoresofthefjordsonroadsthatlendthemselvestogreatregularitysections-youwillhavesomefunhere!ViathetownsofTalvikandBadderenwereachOlderdalen,boardthewestwardferrytoLyngseidetthenstopforlunchinStraumfjordnesbeforecrossingastylishbridgetotheislandofTromsøya,wherethecityofTromsøisourhomeforthenexttwonights.Some400kmnorthoftheArcticCircle,thecityissurroundedbyice-coldfjordsandcraggypeaks,whichretaintheirsnowycapsformuchoftheyear.

Day 14 - Saturday 28th JuneTromsø (Rest Day)Let’shopeyourcardoesn’tdemandtoomuchattentiontoday,soyoumaygetoutandexploreTromsø,alivelyplacewithalargeuniversity,ananimatednightlifeand-surelycoincidental-morepubspercapitathananyothertowninNorway.Inhabitedsincethelasticeage,TromsøhasbeenanorthernoutpostofNorseculture,acentreforhunting,trappingandfishingandtheso-called‘ParisoftheNorth’;itwasalsothestartingpointofArcticexpeditionsbythelikesofRoaldAmundsen.Inthecentreyouwillfindwoodenhousesdatingbackto1789,awoodencathedralconstructedin1861andamodernistArcticCathedralerectedin1965.

TromsøalsoboastsNorthernEurope’ssecondoldestactivecinema,Verdensteatret,openedin1916anddecoratedwithmuralsinspiredbyfolkloreandfairytales.Withmuseums,anaquarium,botanicalgardensandacablecartothetopofMountStorsteinen,420mabovesealevel,you’llfindplentyofthingstoseeanddo,andnoshortageofrestaurants.

Day 15 - Sunday 29th JuneTromsø to Narvik (350km)CrossingthebridgebacktothemainlandwecontinuesouthtowardsLaksvatn,passingthroughremotevillagesamidsnow-cappedmountains.Justasyou’rewonderinghowpeoplemanagetoliveinsuchgloriousisolation,you’ll

passbyaCo-OpgrocerystoreinNordkjosbotn,whereyoumayreplenishyourin-carsupplies.WethenpulloverforacosylunchattheBarduHotelinSetermoen,awaypointforcyclistsontheannualArcticRaceofNorway;themenuherefeaturesheartygamestewandfishsoup.OurafternoondriveincludesinterestingregularitysectionsonwonderfulroadsthatsnaketowardsournighthaltinNarvik.OriginallyaBronzeAgesett lement,thenaNorsetradingportandlateracrucialshippingpointforironore,Narvik’sice-freeharbourmadeitafocusofnavalstrategyduringWW2andwewillfinishtheday’srallytimingattheWarMuseum,allowingyouanunhurriedopportunitytoexaminetheexhibits,whichincludearareEnigmacodingmachine.

Day 16 - Monday 30th JuneNarvik to Kjerringøy (341km)Keepyourcamerahandytoday,asyou’llseesomestunningscenery.WefirstfollowtheroadalongsidethefjordtothetownofBognes,wherewetakeashortferrycrossingovertheTysfjordentoSkarbergetthendrivetoInnhavet,enjoyinglunchattheHamarøyHotel.Crossingfjordsthroughouttheafternoonwefinishwitha10-minutevoyagetothehistoriccoastalvillageofKjerringøy.Beforecheckingintoourhotelyoumayexploretheoldtradingpost,firstestablishedinthelate18thCenturyandespeciallyprosperousinthemid-19ththankstotherisingpriceoffish;itisnowamuseum.

Day 17 - Tuesday 1st JulyKjerringøy to Mosjøen (425km)LeavingKjerringøyaswearrived-byboat-wedrivesouth(ofcourse)andenterthestunningSaltfjellet-SvartisenNationalPark.Wecanexploreonlyafractionofthisvastprotectedarea,whichcovers2,102squarekilometres,butyoumightspotsomeofthewildlifethatliveshere;lookoutforwolverine,Eurasianlynx,elkandabreedingpopulationofArcticfox.We’llbeisland-hoppingacrossthefjordsbyvarious means - tunnels, bridges and short ferry crossings - pausingforlunchinahotelgardenatKilboghamnthencrossingbackovertheArcticCircletoreachournighthaltinMosjøen.HereyoumaytakeastrollalongSjøgata(SeaStreet),anhistoricandpicturesqueareawiththelargestconcentrationoflistedwoodenbuildingsinnorthernNorway,including piers, storehouses, boathouses, galleries, cafes, amuseumandacultureworkshop.

Day 18 - Wednesday 2nd JulyMosjøen to Trondheim (391km)OurroutesouthfromMosjøentakesusbetweentwofabulousnationalparks.OnyourrightistheLomsdal-Vistenpark,whereartefactsdatingfromtheMesolithicperiod(8-9,000yearsago)havebeendiscovered.Onyourleft istheBørgefjellpark,hometotherareArcticfox,althoughthewolverineismorecommon;lynxandbearalsolivehere,alongwithredfox,snowweasel,martenandstoat.FromthisheavenlylandscapewemoveontothevillageofHell,wheretheLånkebanenracecircuithoststheWorldandEuropeanRallycrossChampionships;afteranenjoyabletracktestwewilldriveontolunchatCafeMadameBrixinthetownofSteinkjer.TherewillbemoreregularitycompetitionaswefollowtwistyroadsthroughnumeroustownsandvillagesenroutetoournighthaltinthehistoriccityofTrondheim,whereweshallstayfortwonights.

Day 19 - Thursday 3rd JulyTrondheim (Rest Day)Foundedintheyear997,theVikingcapitalofNorwayuntil1217andnowNorway’sthird-largestcity,Trondheimisatrulywonderfulplaceinwhichtoenjoyarestday.Thereissomething of interest for everyone, from a Gothic cathedral establishedin1070tooneoftheworld’snorthernmostsynagogues,medievalfortifications,aformerU-Boatbunker,colourfullypaintedwaterfronthousesandavarietyofartgalleriesandmuseums;you’llalsofindmanyinterestinglitt leshopsandawiderangeofupmarketrestaurantswhereyoumaychoosetodinethisevening.

Day 20 - Friday 4th JulyTrondheim to Lillehammer (337km)IfyoucanplaymusicinyourcarwesuggestEdvardGrieg’sPeerGyntSuitestoday.OurroutetakesusthroughthesmallvillagesofLundamoandSoknedalandyouwillbegintonoticeamoreagriculturallandscape;theareaisalsoknownforitslovelycampsites.NorthofOttathecountrybecomeswilderagainaswethreadourwaythroughtheforestsoftheRondaneNationalPark-atestfornavigators!Manyprivatetoll roads connect summer chalets in these mountains, and forasmallsumwecanmakeuseofthesedelightfulbyways,farfromanytouristtraffic.WeshallalsohavesomefunattheVålerbanenracecircuitbeforeheadingtoourrelaxinghotelinLillehammer,homeofthe1994WinterOlympics.

Day 22 - Sunday 6th JulyBalestrand to Bergen (206km)Thefinaldayoftherallyisarelativelyshortone,butweshallkeepthecompetitionaliverightuptothefinish.AfteraleisurelybreakfastwefollowtheshorelineofSognefjorden,enjoyingafewregularitysectionsunderthewatchfulgazeoflocalfishermen.AnothershortferrycrossingfromLaviktoOppedalbringsustolunch,followedbyanearlyfinishinBergen.OriginallyaNorsetradingsett lement,thecitywasfoundedin1070byKingOlavKyrre,sonofHaraldHardråde,andnamedBjørgvin,meaning‘thegreenmeadowamongthemountains’.Inlatercenturiesitthrivedasatradingport,despiteseveralmajorfires;the12thCenturyChurchofStMaryisamongtheoldestsurvivorsandwhatremainsoftheharbourquays,Bryggen,isnowaUNESCOWorldHeritage Site.Youmayhaveagoodlookaroundtomorrow;inthemeantimeyouareinvitedtoourGalaDinnerandPrizegiving,aneveningoffeastinganddrinkingwheretrophieswillbeawardedandheroictaleswovenlongintothenight.Skål!

1. ANNOUNCEMENT1.1 THEMIDNIGHTSUNRALLY2019will be held between the 14th June and 6th July 2019. II GENERAL CONDITIONS

7. ENTRIES,FEES&INSURANCE7.1 EntriesarebyinvitationonlyfromtheOrganisers.Acompetingcrewshallconsistoftwopersonsunlessotherwiseagreedwiththe Organisers.Allcrewmemberswhointendtodrivemustholdavaliddrivinglicence,mustallbeovertheageof17,musthavecompleted theindemnityandsigning-onprocedures,mustbecoveredbyvalidinsurancewhilstdrivingontheeventandmustbeinthecarduringall thetimedsectionsoftheevent.

7.2 Applicationsforentriesopenonpublicationoftheseregulationsandcloseon10thFebruary2019,afterwhichnorefundsofentryfees willbegiven.Theentryfeeincludes:accommodationinatwin/doubleroomincludingbreakfastfromSaturday14thJunetoSunday6th July2019inclusive,welcomedinnerinGothenburg,agalaprizegivingdinnerinBergen,grouplunchesandeveningmeals(exceptonrest days),secureparking,emergencybreakdownassistance,ferrycrossings(7),museumentryfees(6),circuitfees(2),thirdpartyvehicle insurance,finishers'medalsandawards.Competitorswillbesuppliedwithrallyplates,numberdecals,identitybadgesandRoadbook.7.3 Themandatoryrequirementsandtimescaleswithrespecttopassports,visas,insurances,carnetsandshippingwillbenotifiedbythe RallyOffice.FailuretomeetanyofthedeadlinessetforthereturnofinformationorcopiesofpaperworkasrequestedbytheOrganisers willresultincancellationofcompetitor’sentryandtheforfeitofallmoniespaid.7.4 CompetitorswillberequiredtoprovidethefollowingitemstotheRallyOffice,asaminimum,nolaterthan10thFebruary2019(the timescaleforreceiptofotherinformationwillbesetoutinsubsequentbulletins): a)AscannedcolourcopyoftheVehicleRegistrationDocument. b)AscannedcolourcopyoftheVehicleRoadworthiness/SafetyCertificate(egUKMoTCertificate)withEnglishtranslationifapplicable. c)Scannedcolourcopiesofthedriver’sandnavigator’sdrivinglicences. d)17cmx12cm(7inx5in)colourthree-quarter-viewphotographsofthecar,clearlyshowingthefrontandrearregistrationplates. e)Scannedcolourcopiesofthepersonaldetailspagesofthepassportsofbothdriverandnavigator.Thepassportsmustbevalidforat leastsixmonthsfromthefinishdateoftherally(ieto30thJune2020orbeyond). f)AscannedcolourcopyoftheInternationalDrivingPermitforanycrewmemberwhointendstodriveontheevent. g)2cmx3cm(0.8inx1.2in)colourphotographsofboththedriverandthenavigator,clearlylabelledonreverse.Photosmusthavea whitebackgroundandclearlyshowtheears.7.5 Entrantsareresponsiblefortheirownfuel,flights,visas,personaltravelandmedicalinsurance,fullycomprehensivevehicleinsurance, transportcostsincludingshippingandcarnetdepassage,carrepairandrepatriation.Themaximumnumberofcompetingentriesis40.7.6 TheOrganisersreservetherighttorefuseorwithdrawanyentrywithoutexplanation.Anentrywillnotbeconfirmeduntilthefullentry feehasbeenpaid.IfpriortotheeventunforeseencircumstancesforcethecancellationoftheeventtheOrganisersreservetheright toretain20%oftheentryfee,inadditiontoanydepositpaid,tocoveradministrativecostsalreadyincurred.Ifoncetheeventhas startedunforeseencircumstancesforcethecancellation,curtailment,reroutingorinterruptionoftheeventtherewillbenorefundof entryfeesorreimbursementofanyothercostsorexpensesincurred.7.7 Thedetailsofeachcrewmembermustbesubmittedonafullycompletedandsignedentryform.Bysubmittingtheentryformthecrew undertaketoabidebytheseeventregulationsandanysubsequentofficialbulletinsissuedbytheOrganisers.Onceanentryhasbeen accepted,anysubsequentchangeofcarorcrewmemberisatthediscretionoftheOrganisers.7.8 Theentryfeeis£29,000pervehicleincludingacrewoftwo.Anon-refundabledepositof£7,000isrequiredwiththeentryformto confirmanentryandthebalanceisrequirednolaterthan10thFebruary2019.Failuretopaythefinalbalancebytheduedatewillresult intheentrybeingcancelledandthedepositforfeited.7.9 AlleventdocumentationandinstructionswillbeinEnglish.NoallowancewillbemadeforanyinabilitytocommunicateinEnglish.7.10 Completedentryformsandfeesshouldbesentto:RallyRoundLtd,TheStudio,Coachman’sLodge,FrenshamLane,Churt,Surrey, GU102QQ,UK.Paymentsbychequeorbanktransfer(seetheentryformfordetails)shouldbemadepayabletoRallyRoundLtd.

8. ELIGIBLECARS8.1 OnlycarsofamodeltypeproducedwithinthePioneer,VintageorClassicperiodsasspecifiedinArticle6.1willbeeligible.The Organisersreservetherighttoacceptcarsmanufacturedafterthecut-offdatesprovidedtheyaretotheoriginalperioddesignandall componentsareofappearance,design,materialsanddimensionsknowntohaveexistedduringtheperiodforwhichthecarisentered, apartfromanyexceptionsallowedwithintheseregulations.Periodmodificationsarepermitedprovidedthecompetitorcansupply authenticatingdocuments.DetailsandphotographsofsuchcarsmustbesubmittedtotheOrganiserspriortoacceptance.8.2 Allcarsmustbeofatypeexclusivelydesignedtocarrypassengerswitheithersaloonorsportsbodywork.Estatecarsandstationwagons maybeconsideredunderthesameconditionsasArticle8.1.Commercialormilitaryvehiclessuchaslighttrucks,vans,ambulances, pickupsandutility4x4vehiclesmaybeconsidered,butwillruninClass9(Specials)andcompeteforClassAwardsonly.8.3 TheOrganisersmaydeclineorre-classifyacarifitdoesnotcomplywiththerelevantperiodinspiritorappearance,ifitisconsideredto beofinadequateperformanceordoesnotcomplywiththerequirementsoftheseregulations.Onceanentryhasbeenacceptedthe entrantmayonlychangethecategoryorclassofthecarenteredwiththewrittenpermissionoftheOrganisers.8.4 Theacceptanceofanentryissubjecttopre-eventscrutineering.Theentrantmustensurethat,atscrutineeringandforthedurationof theevent,thecarisroad-legalforthecountriesinwhichtheeventtakesplaceandthatitcomplieswiththeseeventregulations.8.5 Toassistcustomsproceduresentrantsmustensurethattheircarhasclearlyvisibleandauthenticchassisandenginenumberplateswhich correspondtothevehicledocumentation.TheOrganiserswillnotbeabletoinfluencethedecisionsoflocalofficialsatbordercrossings.

9. ●Limitedsliportorquebiasingdifferential,unlessavailableasoriginalequipmentinperiodandoforiginalspecification. ●Discbrakes,exceptintheClassiccategorywhereavailableasoriginalequipmentinperiodandoforiginalspecification. ●Enginemanagementsystemsorcranksensors. ●Conversiontorackandpinionorpowersteering. ●Replacementofbodypanelswithcompositematerials. ●Wheeldesignormaterialnotavailablewithinperiod. ●LEDorgasdischarge(HID)forwardorrearfacinglighting. ●Modernstyleracingoverallsorhelmets. ●Radiotransmitters. ●Anymounted,hand-heldorhiddenelectronicdevicetoaidnavigationorthemaintenanceofafixedaveragespeed.9.4 Thefollowingitemsandmodificationsarepermitted: ●Roofracks,ifmadeofmetaltoaperioddesign.Theymustnotoverhangtheroofpanelnorbeenclosedbyanypanellingorcovering. ●Spares-therewillbenolimitonthequantityorrangethatmaybecarriedinthecarbuttrailersarenotpermitted. ●Electronicclocks,calibratedtripmetersandGPSnavigationdevices-allowedwithoutrestrictionprovidedtheydonotincorporateany functionordevicetoaidthemaintenanceofafixedaveragespeed.9.5 Anycarfailingtocomplywiththeabovetechnicalspecificationsatpre-eventscrutineeringwillberefusedastart.AttheOrganisers’ discretionitmaybetransferredtoaseparatecategoryorclassbutitwillnotbeincludedinthegeneralclassificationorresults.Thecrew willonlybeeligibletoqualifyforafinisher’saward.

10. APPLICATIONOFTHEREGULATIONS10.1 TheOrganisersreservetherighttochangetheprovisionsoftheseregulationsatanytimebyissuinganofficialbulletinoranyother officialinstruction.Eachofficialbulletinwillbenumbered,datedandsignedbytheClerkoftheCourseorhisDeputy.Thesemaybesent tocompetitorspriortotheeventorbepostedontheofficialnoticeboardatRallyHQ.Suchinformationmaybedirectlycommunicatedat anypointthatallcompetitorsarerequiredtovisitandcompetitorsmustsigntoacknowledgereceiptoftheinformation.10.2 TheClerkoftheCourseisresponsiblefortheapplicationoftheseregulationsandtheirprovisionsduringtherunningoftheeventandhas thepowertodecideonanymatternotprovidedforintheseregulationsorsubsequentofficialbulletins.10.3 Incaseswherenopenaltyorapenaltyof‘uptoandincludingexclusion’isspecified,theClerkoftheCoursemaypenaliseabreachofthe regulationsbyimposingapenaltyofbetweenfiveminutesandexclusion,athisdiscretion.10.4 TheClerkoftheCoursemayexcludefromtheeventorotherwisepenaliseatanytimeanycompetitorwhohasbreachedanycivillawor trafficregulation,actedinafraudulentorunsportingmannerorbehavedinamannerthatisnotconducivetothesmoothrunningof theeventormightbringitintodisrepute.SuchdecisionsareatthesolediscretionoftheClerkoftheCourseandnotsubjecttoappeal.10.5 Eventofficialswillbeondutythroughouttheeventtodiscussanycompetitorqueriesorissues.Anyqueryorissuethatcannotbe resolvedbydiscussionwiththeofficialmustbesubmittedtotheClerkoftheCourseusinganofficialqueryForm.Writtenprotestsare notexpectedbutshouldacompetitorbedissatisfiedwiththedecisionoftheClerkoftheCoursethemattermaybereferredtotheRally Stewardforadjudication.SeealsoArticle22.

11. COMPETITORS’OBLIGATIONS11.1 Thefirstnameddriverontheentryformwillbedeemedtobetheentrantandwillthusberesponsibleforallliabilitiesandobligations beforeandthroughouttheevent.11.2 Competitorsareresponsibleforpaymentofanycoststheyincurduringtheevent.Inparticular,extrasathotels,mechanicalservices, breakdowntransportationandchargesatgaragesmustbepaidinfullondemand.FailuretodosomaybreachArticle10.4.11.3 CompetitorswhoretirefromtheeventmustinformofficialsatRallyHQoftheirdecisiontowithdraw.Atthepointofretirementor exclusionfromtheeventalltherightsandbenefitsofacompetitorarerelinquished.However,theOrganisersmayattheirdiscretion permiton-goinghotelaccommodationprovidedthecompetitorisnotinbreachofArticle10.4.11.4 TheOrganisersdeclineliabilityinanyaccidentorincidentcausedbyortocompetitorsand/orcompetingcarsduringtheevent. Competitorsshallbeheldresponsibleforanyaccidentorbreachofthelawinwhichtheymightbeinvolvedandmustinformthe Organisers,assoonaspracticable,withfulldetailsofanyincidentfromwhichliabilitymayarise. CompetitorsshallhavenoclaimagainsttheOrganisersarisingoutofanyactoromissionoftheOrganisers,theirservants,agentsor officialsduringthecourseoftheevent.TheOrganisersacceptnoresponsibilityforassistingcompetitorsindifficultiesofanykindandwill notacceptanyclaimforexpensesofanysort,howeverincurred.11.5 Competitorsmustnotdriveatexcessivespeedorinadangerousornegligentmannerandmustalwaysconductthemselvesinamanner that does not bring the sport into disrepute.11.6 Competitorsareobligedtocomplywithinstructionsofaneventofficialandtomakethemselvesawareofanyofficialbulletinsornotices postedontheofficialnoticeboardatRallyHQ.11.7 Competitorswillbeissuedwithanidentitybadge,tobewornatalltimesduringtheevent.Bothcrewmembersmustbeinthecar throughouttheevent,exceptwhenthecarisstationaryorinthevicinityofarallycontrolpoint.Anyabsenceorchangeofcrewmember mustbeauthorisedinadvancebytheOrganisers.11.8 Competitorsmustmakeeveryefforttoensuretheydonotdelayothercrewsontherally.Ifcaughtbyanothercar,itisobligatoryfor driverstolettheothercarpass.FailuretodosomayplacethecompetitorinbreachofArticle10.4.Notimeallowancewillbegrantedfor delays,baulkingorforcemajeureexceptinexceptionalcircumstancesatthediscretionoftheClerkoftheCourse.11.9 Competitorsfallingbehindtheeventtimescheduleforanyreasonwillberesponsiblefortheirownbordercrossingarrangementsand anyotherassociatedcosts.11.10 Ateveryovernighthaltcompetitorsmustdeployanon-poroussheetordriptraytopreventoilorotherfluidsfromcontaminatingthe groundunderthecar.11.11 Competitorsagreetobefilmedand/orphotographedbyagentsaccreditedbytheOrganisersduringtheevent.Theeventlogosand nameremainthecopyrightofRallyRoundLtdandtheiruseforcommercialpurposesisforbiddenwithoutwrittenpermissionfrom Rally Round Ltd.11.12 Competitorsundertakeasaconditionofentrytoabidebytherequirementsoftheeventregulations.Abreachofanyofthecompetitors’ obligationslistedinArticle11mayresultinarefusedstartorapenalty‘uptoandincludingexclusion’atthediscretionoftheClerkofthe Course.11.13 Competitorsundertaketocarryanup-to-datepassportwithsixmonthstorunfromthedateofleavingeachcountry.Competitorsare responsibleforobtainingandpayingallcostsforvisasrequiredfortheevent.CompetitorsundertaketosupplyRallyRoundwitha scannedcopyofeachcrewmember’spassportandvisaifapplicablenolaterthan10thFebruary2019.

12. IDENTIFICATION&ADVERTISING12.1 TheOrganiserswillprovidetwometalrallyplates,whichmustbefixedtothefrontandrearofthecarinclearlyvisiblepositionsthatdo notobscureanylicenceplates,pluslargenumbersforeachsideofthecar.Rallyplatesandnumbersmustbeinplaceforscrutineering andforthedurationoftheevent.12.2 Anyadvertisingorstickersshouldbediscreet,inperiodstyle,andmustbeapprovedinadvancebytheOrganisers.

13. TEAMS13.1 CompetitorsmayformaTeambycompletingandsubmittingateamentryformbeforethestartoftheevent.Anindividualcarmaybe inanynumberofteamsbutthesametwoorthreecarsmaynotbeinmorethanoneteam.Thewinningteamwillbetheonewiththe lowestaggregatepenaltiesofthethreeteammembers,allofwhommustbeclassifiedasfinishers.

III RUNNING OF THE EVENT

14. SCRUTINEERING14.1 Allcrewmembersmustattendpre-eventscrutineeringwiththeircarsatthetimeandlocationtobeadvisedinanofficialbulletin.The scrutineerswillcheckthecarsforsafetyandcompliancewiththeeventregulations.14.2 Theacceptanceofacaratanyscrutineeringdoesnotconfirmcompliancewithnationaltrafficlawsortheseregulationsshouldany subsequentinspectionfindotherwise.14.3 Acrewfailingtosuccessfullycompletescrutineeringandsigning-onwillbedeemednon-startersandwillforfeittheirentryandentryfee.14.4 Competitorsmayberequiredtopresenttheircarsforscrutineeringatanytimeduringtheeventuntiltheresultsaredeclaredfinal.

15. DOCUMENTATION&SIGNING-ON15.1 Followingcompletionofscrutineeringbothcrewmembersmustpresenttheirdocumentsandsign-on.Eventdocumentationwillbe issuedatsigning-on.15.2 Latestnewsabouttheeventandexamplesofallofficialsignsandboardswillbeondisplayatsigning-on.15.3 Therewillbeacompetitors’briefingonSaturday14thJuneatatimeandplacetobenotified.Allcompetitorsmustattendthisbriefing.

16. STARTINGORDER16.1 ThestartingorderforeachdaywillbedeterminedbytheClerkoftheCourseanddisplayedontheofficialnoticeboard.16.2 ThestartingintervalbetweencarswillbeoneminuteunlessadvisedotherwisebytheClerkoftheCourse.16.3 CompetitionnumberswillbeallocatedattheOrganisers’discretion.

ASSISTANCE17.1 Competitorsshouldbeself-sufficientandable,whereverpossible,tomaintainandrepairtheirowncars.TheOrganiserswillarrangefor officialassistancecrewstofollowtheroutewithinstructionstoassistwithemergencyroadsiderepairs.Theofficialassistancecrewswill notbeexpectedtoprovideatowingserviceortoworklatehoursattheendoftheday.Allrepairscarriedoutbythemareentirelyatthe riskofthecompetitorwho,havingacceptedthisassistancecannotmakeanyclaimregardingthequalityoftherepairsorforany consequencesresultingdirectlyorindirectlyfromanysuchrepairs.17.2 Pre-arrangedoutsideassistanceisprohibited(seealsoArticle17.4).Anynon-competingvehicleaccompanyingacompetingcar,orseen onanypartoftheofficialrallyrouteeachday,willberegardedasprovidingoutsideassistance,whetherornotitisactuallyassistinga competingcar.17.3 Thetowingofonecompetingcarbyanotherorbybreakdownservicesispermittedonlyforareasonabledistancetoaplaceatwhich assistancemaybeobtained.TheClerkoftheCoursewillbethearbiterofwhatisareasonabledistance.Towingortransportofa competingcarinthevicinityofarallycontrolpointwillbepenalisedasifthecompetitorhadnotvisitedthecontrol.Competingcarsmust becapableofbeingdriventhroughacontrolinordertobedeemedtohavevisitedthatcontrol.Carscapableofbeingdrivenmustnotbe towedortransportedbyanyvehicleatanytimeduringtheevent.17.4 CompetitorsintendingtoarrangethecommercialdeliveryofsparepartsontheeventmustconsulttheClerkoftheCourseinadvance.

18. CONTROLS&SECTIONS18.1 Therewillbevarioustypesofrallycontrolsandcheckpointsandcompetitorswillreceiveinformationanddocumentationtoenablethem tolocatethese,tovisittheminthecorrectorderandtocompletetheroutecorrectly.Competitors’check-intimeswillberecordedon theirtimecardsandpenaltieswillbeappliedforvariancefromtheeventrequirements.

PASSAGECONTROLS(PC),SECRETCHECKS(SC),ROUTECHECKS(RC)18.6 Atamannedpassagecontrolorasecretcheckthecontrolofficialwillstamporsignthecompetitor’stimecard.Atanunmannedpassage controlorroutecheckcompetitorswillberequiredtowriteontheirtimecardtherequestedinformationthatwillbeclearlyvisibleat thatlocation.Crewsfailingtocollectastamp,asignatureornotrecordingthecorrectinformationwillbedeemedtohavemissedthe controlorcheckandwillbepenalisedaccordingly.

REGULARITYSECTIONS(RS&TP)18.7 Regularitysectionswillbeheldonroadsopentonormaltraffic.Theregularitystartandregularitytimingpoint(s)willbeincludedwithina liaisonsectionbetweentwotimecontrols.18.8 Unlikemainandothertimecontrolsthereisnoscheduledcheck-intimeforaregularitysection.Competitorswillstartatoneminuteor 30secondintervals.Foraself-startregularity,competitorsmuststartthesectionwhileitisopen,asshownonthetimecard,andthey mustwritedowntheiractualstarttime,in ink,ontheirtimecardas(orbefore)theystartthesection.Regularitieswillbetimedtothe second.18.9 Competitorswillbeissuedwithtimeanddistanceinformationtoenablethemtomaintainascloselyaspossiblethespecifiedaverage speed(s)throughoutthesection.Suchspeedswillnotexceed80km/h.18.10 Regularitytimingpoints(TP)willbelocatedatundisclosedintermediatelocationsonregularitysectionsandthetimeofreportingwillbe theexacttime,tothesecond,ofstoppingatthecontrolpoint.18.11 Timingwillbebetweenconsecutivetimingpoints,iefromtheStartControl(RS)tothefirsttimingpoint(TP)andthen,ifpresent, separatelytothenexttimingpoints(s)andthenseparatelytothefinaltimingpoint.Penaltieswillbeappliedattherateofonesecondfor eachsecondbeforeoraftertheidealtime,uptoamaximumof60secondsatanyonetimingpointvisited.18.12 Competitorswillbepenalisedformissingaregularitysection,missingapassagecontrolwithinthesection,ormissingorstoppingwithin sightofatimingpoint.

19. TIMING&TIMECARDS19.1 TheScheduledTimingsystemwillbeusedforroadsectionscomprisingtheoverallrallyroute,withinwhichdifferenttimingsystemsmay beusedforregularitysections.19.2 TheScheduledTimeisthetimeofdayatwhichacompetitorisrequiredtocheck-inateachtimedcontrol(MTC,TC).Itiscalculatedby addingthecompetitor’sstartingpositioneachdaytotheStandardTimeshownonthetimecard.Forexample,iftheStandardTimeat MTC1foranotionalCar0is0800hours,thenthecompetitorwhoissixthonthestartlistwillhaveaScheduledTimeof0806hours.19.3 Competitorswillbedueatmainandothertimecontrolsataspecifictime(ScheduledTime)butmayreporttoregularitysectionsatany timewhiletheregularitystartcontrolisopen.19.4 Officialclockswillbeusedatallcontrolswheretimesarerecorded.Atmainandothertimecontrolstheywillrecordthepreviouswhole minute(ie11:44:56secondswillberecordedas11:44:00).Atregularitytimingpointsandtestsectionfinishcontrolstheywillrecordthe previouswholesecond(ie11:44:56.8secondswillberecordedas11:44:56).19.5 Acrewmayarriveearlyatatimecontrolbutshouldonlygivetheirtimecardtothecontrolmarshalattheircheck-intime,unlessearly check-inisspecificallyallowed.Thecontrolmarshalwillenterthetimeatwhichthecardishandedtothem.19.6 Earlyarrivalmaybeallowedatsometimecontrolswithoutpenalty.Atthemaintimecontrolattheendofadaytherewillbe30minutes penalty-freelateness(PFL)andnopenaltyforearlyarrival.19.7 Competitorschecking-inearlyatothertimecontrols(MTC,TC)willbepenalisedtwominutesperminuteearly,andiftheyareearlyagain atsubsequenttimecontrolstheywillbepenalisedagain.Competitorswhothentakelongerthanthetimeallowedtothenextcontroland therebygetbacktotheirScheduledTimewillnotbepenalised.19.8 Competitorschecking-inlateatatimecontrol(MTC,TC)willbepenalisedoneminuteperminute,butmaybethesameamountlateat thatday’ssubsequenttimecontrolswithoutfurtherpenalty(PFL)providingtheyarewithinthemaximumpermittedlateness(MPL).19.9 Themaximumpermittedlateness(MPL)willbe15minutesattheMTCatthestartofeachday,30minutesataTC,and60minutesatthe MTCattheendofeachday.Acrewreportingtoanyofthesecontrolsoutsidethesetimeswillbedeemedtohavemissedthecontroland willbepenalisedaccordingly.TheClerkoftheCoursemaymodifytheMPLatanycontrol.19.10 Competingcarsmustbecapableofbeingdriventhroughacontrollocationinordertorecordatimeatthatcontrol.

TIMECARDS19.11 EachcrewwillbeissuedwithasetoftimecardsshowingtheStandardTimefortimecontrols(MTC,TC)andaguidetothenotional StandardTime,inbrackets,forregularitysections(RS).FromthisinformationcompetitorscancalculatetheirownScheduledTime,based ontheirpositioninthatday’sstartingorder.19.12 Competitorsareresponsibleforpresentingtheirtimecardsatthecorrecttimeforcompletionbyeventofficialsatcontrolpoints,andfor ensuringthatthecardsarestamped,chippedorsignedandthetimesarerecordedaccurately.Thetimerecordedwillbethetimeat whichthetimecardispersonallyhandedtotheofficial.19.13 Competitorsdelayedformorethanfiveminutesbyofficialsataregularitystartcontrolmayrequesttohavetheirarrivaltimerecorded ontheirtimecardbytheofficialinchargeofthecontrol.ADelayAllowancewillbegivenforanydifferenceinexcessoffiveminutes betweenarrivalandactualstarttime.Atthefollowingtimecontrolcompetitorsmaybelatewithoutpenaltytotheextentoftheirdelay allowance.Alldelayallowanceswillbecancelledatthenextmaintimecontrol(MTC)andnoretrospectiveclaimswillbeallowed.19.14 Lossofthetimecardoranyalterationoramendmenttothecardwillbepenalised‘uptoandincludingexclusion’,unlessthealterationor amendmenthasbeenapprovedandauthenticatedbyaneventofficial.

20. PENALTIES20.1 Overallpenaltieswillbeexpressedinhours,minutesandseconds.Themaximumpenaltyacompetitorcanincurononedayis12hours.

RESULTS21.1 Theoverall,categoryandclasswinnerswillbedeterminedbyaddingtogetherallthepenaltiesincurredduringtheevent,thewinners beingthosewiththelowestpenalties.21.2 Theteamawardswillbebasedontheaggregateresultsoftheteamcars,allofwhommustbeclassifiedasfinishers.21.3 Tieswillbedecidedbygivingpreferencetotheoldercar(takingintoaccountthemodel’sinitialproductiondate)andthenthetotal penaltiesonthetestsections21.4 Finishers’awardswillbepresentedtoallcrewswhoreportwithinmaximumpermittedlatenesstothemaintimecontrolatthestartof eachdayandtothecontrolattherallyfinish,withouthavingincurredapenaltyofexclusion.21.5 Adailyresultsclassification(overall,category&class)willbepostedatRallyHQassoonaspossibleattheendofeachday.

22. QUERIESANDPROTESTS22.1 Crewsshouldchecktheirpenaltiespromptlyandifnecessarysubmitanyqueriesonanofficialqueryformtoanofficial.Queriesrelating topenaltiesincurredonanydaymustbesubmittedbeforetheclosingtimeoftheMTCattheendofthefollowingday.Queriessubmitted afterthistimewillnotbeconsidered.22.2 Onpublicationoftheprovisionalresultsattheendoftheevent,aperiodof30minuteswillbeallowedforqueries.Onlyqueries submittedbeforetheendofthisperiodandrelatingtopenaltiesincurredduringthefinaldayoftheeventwillbeconsidered.No considerationwillbegiventoadditionalunrelatedqueriessubmittedafterthe30minutequeryperiod.Afurther30minuteperiodmay beallocatedduringwhichtheOrganisersmayadjustandre-publishtheresultsinthelightofanyqueriesproperlysubmitted.Duringthis periodnofurtherqueriesorprotestswillbeaccepted.Oncetheamendedresultshavebeenpublishedafurther30minuteperiodwillbe allowedforprotests.Afterthistheresultswillbedeclaredfinal.Crewsmustnotremovetheircarsfromthefinishareauntilauthorisedto dosobytheClerkoftheCourse.Crewswhoremovetheircarswithoutauthorisationwillforfeittherighttoanyaward.22.3 AnyprotestsmustbesubmittedinwritingandhandedtotheClerkoftheCourse,togetherwiththesumof£1000,beforetheresultsare declaredfinal.Thissumwillbereturnediftheprotestisupheld.Iftheprotestrequiresthedismantlingandre-assemblyofanypartofa car,theclaimantmustpayanadditionaldepositof£1000.TheRallyStewardwillconsideranyprotestandadjudicateasappropriate.

23. AWARDS23.1 Awardswillbepresentedasfollows: 1st,2nd,3rdoverallineachcategory-Pioneer,Vintage,Classic ClassAwards-1st,2nd,3rd Team Award SpiritoftheRallyAward AgainstAllOddsAward Finishers’Awards

23.2 Crewswinninganoverallorcategoryawardcannotalsowintheclassaward,whichpassestothenexthighestplacedfinisherinthatclass.23.3 Thenumberofcategoryandclassawardsmaybereduceddependingonthenumberofentriesreceived.Additionalawardsmaybe presentedattheOrganisers’discretion.23.4 Allcompetitorsareinvitedtotheprizegivingbutthosenotattendingwillforfeittheirawards,whichwillnotbereassigned.Thetimeand placeoftheprizegivingwillbenotifiedinanofficialbulletin.

Do I need a competition licence?Youdonotneedcompetitionlicences,helmetsorfireproofoveralls.Thisisnotaspeedeventbutaroadrally,runwithinnormaltrafficrules;thecompetitiveelementoftheeventisbasedonregularity(time-speed-distance)testsrequiringadherencetoasafeaveragespeed,asexplainedintheadvicepagesofourwebsiteandintheeventregulations.Abovealltherallyisintendedtobefriendlyandfun;withrelaxedschedulesandseveralrestdaysyouwillhaveplentyoftimetosocialisewithyourfellowparticipantsandenjoythesceneryandotherattractionsenroute.

What if I don’t want to compete?Noproblem.EntertheTouringCategoryandyoumaytravelatyourownpacewithintheoveralldailyschedule.Ourralliesarehighlysociableandyouwillbejustasmuchaparticipantaseveryoneelse,enjoyingthesameexcursions,adventuresandactivities,diningandsleepinginthesamehotels,standingyourroundatthebarandswappingstoriesuntiltheearlyhours!

What sort of car do I need? Anyvintageorclassiccarofatypeinproductionbefore1977iseligible.Latermodelvariantsandmodificationsmightbeacceptabledependingonspecification;pleasecontacttheRallyOfficeforadvice.Ifyouserviceandprepareyourcarproperly,uprateitssuspensionandfitasumpshieldforprotection,itshouldbeabletocope.Wealsorecommendroll-overprotectionandsafetyharnesses(requiredintheclassiccategory-seeArticle9.1oftheregulations).Yourcarmustbefittedwithatripmeter(average-speeddisplaysarenotpermitted,ormustbedisabled)andwewillfitaGPSdevicetoeverycarsothatwecantrackyourposition.Youwillalsoneedtocarryafewitemsspecifiedintheregulations,suchasafirst-aidkit;comprehensiveadviceoncarpreparationandequipmentmaybefoundonourwebsite.

What will the weather and road conditions be like?EarlysummertemperaturesintheNordiccountriesgenerallyvaryfrom13-22C(55-72F)inthesouthto8-16C(46-61F)inthenorthandwesterncoastalareas;somerainfallmaybeexpectedsoyoushouldcarrywarmclothesandwaterproofs.Theroadsweusearegenerallygoodasphaltandtherewillbesomesmoothgravel;therewillbenocar-breakingsections.
