Did you know that Sudden Cardiac Arrest is one of the leading causes of death in youth under 25? It stole our beautiful daughter’s life and we are devastated. Peyton’s loss motivated us to save the lives of other children throughout the Midstate. Thanks to the support of the business community, our healthcare partners, our generous donors and our army of volunteers, we have achieved tremendous success with measurable, lifesaving results.

The Peyton Walker Foundation grew out of our pain of losing 19-year old Peyton to Sudden Cardiac Arrest in 2013. The Foundation works tirelessly to ensure that “the beat will go on” for other young people with undetected heart issues, saving other families from the crushing heartache of losing a child.

Increasing awareness and survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest incidents through education, screenings and training.

HEART SCREENINGS: The Foundation has held numerous FREE Heart Screening Clinics for students ages 12-19 in the Midstate area:

Over 1,200 students have been carefully screened by our medical teams Close to 30 significant and serious cardiac issues have been detected in students

through our screenings – all previously undiagnosed Additional students are being followed for potential heart issues

CPR & AED TRAINING: The Foundation provides FREE CPR/AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification training classes and demonstrations throughout Southcentral PA. The Peyton Walker Foundation also provides AED & CPR training to every student who attends our Heart Screenings. Students and their families have the chance to perform hands-on CPR, and also gain a better understanding of what an AED is and how to use it.

AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (AED) DONATIONS: The Foundation has donated nearly 50 AEDs to:

● PIAA District III Schools● Athletic Organizations● Youth Sports Leagues

● Local Police Departments● Nonprofit Agencies

EXPANDING HEALTCHARE PARTNERS & AFFILIATE PARTNERS: We have worked tirelessly to expand our network of healthcare providers, so that we can provide more heart screenings – reaching more children and families throughout our region. A new affiliate partnership with the PIAA District III has increased our reach & exposure – including being featured at all PIAA District 3 championships – resulting in increased awareness of our programs and services.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR LIFESAVING WORK: Parent Heart Watch, the national organization for protecting youth from sudden cardiac arrest, awarded foundation director Julie Walker the 2018 Hero For Young Hearts Advocacy Champion Award. Julie and the Foundation were recognized for their "unwavering dedication to protecting young lives from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.” It was an incredible honor to be nationally recognized for our lifesaving work.
