Notes Besides the straight ring and shakes, two predominant techniques are employed in this work: the echo ring and mallet roll. The echo ring is executed by first ringing the bell normally, then touching the lip lightly to the table on the beats indicated.The mallet roll requires two mallets and is executed with the bell on table and quickly alternating the mallets near the point where the clapper normally strikes. Be sure to work on bouncing the mallet off the bell or "pulling" the sound from the bell, rather than hammering downward with no bounce.
