Leading the way in concrete standardsMEVA has been instrumental in redening the

European DIN 18218 Standard for concretepressure to take account of new concretemixtures such as self-compacting and owableconcrete. A new procedure to determine howconcrete pressure will develop during each pouris based on MEVA know-how and will be part ofthe new standard.

Replacing the knead-bag test:Measuring device SolidCheck

calculates concrete setting timeWhen has the concrete set? When can theformwork be stripped? These questions,up to now, had to be answered literallyby rule of thumb using a knead-bag andpushing a thumb into the concrete. Thisuncertain technique is now redundant,replaced by a computer-aided ultrasonicmeasuring technology that ascertains theexact setting time as required for instanceby the German standard DIN 18218. Thisallows the site to safely and fully utilisethe formworks load capacity.
