Welcome to the first issue of(Metcommunity)- the newsletter of METCO.

Metcommunity aims to bring all the company s news and updates together in one place. This issue includes our latestevents, achievements and solutions.

Middle East Telecommunications Company (METCO) participated for the third time in the 2013 Zain Technologies Conference that was held in Dubai between the 1st and 3rd of December at the Atlantis Resort thePalm.

METCO’s effect ive presence and representation of major international telecommunications companies in ZTC demonstrates the unparalleled efforts that METCO devotes in being a top solution provider in the field of telecommunications.

In this regard Bassem A. Jalil- METCO’s Chief Executive Officer stated: “We are not strangers to ZTC as we have been at the forefront of this event since its inception in 2009. The event was a

Headquarters, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) andthe Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Headquarters.

METCO and NEC cooperate to deploy Microwave Backhaul Network for Zain

Middle East Telecommunications Company (METCO), a leading integrator of telecommunication and information technology solutions in the Middle East and Africa, and NEC Corporation (NEC), a leading provider of IT and network solutions, today announced a new contract with Zain Kuwait that will enable the operator to increase its LTE, 3G and 2G network capacity, enabling it to continue to deliverhigh speed connectivity to consumers.

METCO’s in-depth mobile network expertise, combined with NEC’s iPASOLINK series of advanced microwave radio solutions and network management system, will upgrade Zain Kuwait’s backhaul transmission network to meet growing mobile broadband demand. The project is expected to be completed by theend of 2014.

Noboru Takahashi, President of NEC Saudi Arabia said, “As more people switch to LTE phones, it is vital that operators have the backhaul capacity to take the strain and deliver the high speed, high capacity mobile broadband experience consumers want. Far from just making calls, consumers now want to use their phones to do everything from streaming high definition videos to browsing the web. NEC is pleased to work with METCOto help Zain Kuwait to meet these demands.”

Middle East Telecommunications participates in Global Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition 2014 ( GOGCE )

Middle East Telecommunications Company METCO participated in the annual Meeting and Exhibition that was held between KuwaitOil Company and contractors.

The conference and exhibition was organized by KOC, and was held recently at the KuwaitInternational Fairgrounds in Mishref Hall 8.

Middle East Telecommunications Company METCO - has achieved the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for quality control management. The ISO 9001:2008 certificate is granted to companies that achieve the highestinternational standards in that sector.

The certificate was received by Khaled Samy – on behalf of METCO’s Management from Ismail Moustafa, «SGS» representative at a

ceremony held at METCO’s premises in Kuwait.

Bassem A. Jalil – METCO’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) took the opportunity to thank METCO’s personnel for their hard work, team effort, and contributions. “Receiving this certificate does not mean that our work is done, but it means that we now have the tools and experience to continually improveour processes and our quality.” he said.

On behalf of METCO, A.Jalil also extended his appreciation to the Kuwait International Laboratory (LABCO) that worked closely with them on the certification process. “We are happy to have worked with LABCO on the training and certification process. We greatly benefitted from LABCO’s extensive experience and their fully integrated consultancy service on all aspects of this QMS certification.”

Sunil Khubchandani, LABCO’s Director, explained “The ISO 9001:2008 certification is a globally recognized quality management

standard. Achieving this certification demonstrates that the certified organization is technically and functionally focused to meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements related to the product deliverables.

Continuous presence in Erbil International Fair

Middle East Telecommunications Company METCO took place in the 9th edition of the multi- sector trade fair. The exhibition was hosted by Erbil International Fair under the presence of prestigious dignitaries. Notably the Mayor of Erbil Nozad Hadi, and General Manager of the Erbil International Fair Grounds, Abdallah Abdel Rahim, representative of the British Prime Minister for business affairs, along with large number of significant public figures.

There are many added values from METCOto Zain.

METCO is not only a local representative of some Telecom suppliers such as (Aviat, Juniper, …etc), METCO is a turnkey company where we buy a complete solution which we don’t have to worry about the compatibility andother integration boxes.

In the telecom industry, it is not only about good products from big company and puttingpieces together.

It is about how you integrate those boxes in a complete platform which will meet andserve our needs.

I believe METCO succeed in achieve thisobjective.

2. What is a key differentiator of METCOcompared to others?

We have long history with METCO (morethan 25 years!!!).

During those two and half decades, Zain and METCO succeed to gain each other trust. A small word from any person from bothcompanies will be considered as a commitment.

I believe the mutual trust is the manydifferentiators.

Moreover, supporting Zain in many difficult

countries where many vendors run away and they don’t want to work, this really helped enhancing the relation and building faith thatthey are the right partner and selection.

3. How has METCO progressed throughoutthe technological revolution?

I believe technology trend is moving very fast, and to cater to this trend, it will require alot of preparation and work to be done.

METCO succeeds to equip themselves with the right resources and knowledgedevelopment to coup with this trend.

Moreover, selecting the right company to partner with by representing them in the region also help METCO to be up to datewith the technology.

METCO has many partnerships with many companies and most of them have the state of art technology and they are leaders intheir functionality and area.

This gives METCO the variety of selecting the right vendor that suite the target budgetand has a competitive price.

Moreover, since METCO is a system integrator and a company that provide a turnkey solution, then they have the privilege of selectingdifferent platform with low cost of ownership.

Also METCO has great experienced resources certified by many global companies, and since those resources are based in the region, they are familiar to Zain Opco and also some ofthem are local people.

Therefore, the cost of service will automaticallybe reduced.
