years. Our high-performance products include blended
mineral binders containing sodium and calcium bentonites and
organic additives sold under the trade name Additrol. Castings
produced from these materials serve the automotive, railroad and
machine tool markets, among others. AMCOLs market
presence spans the globe. With operations in Asia, Australia,
Europe, North America, and South Africa, our international
network provides unequaled service and sales support to help to
optimize individual foundry process performance and
casting production. AMCOL is the only supplier with global
on-the-ground operations.
The Volclaybrand of bentonite products are recognized worldwide
as the standard in many industries, the largest being
the metalcasting industry. Volclaybentonite products are used
for iron and steel casting production in green sand molding.
In 2010, AMCOL acquired a chromite mine in the Republic of South
Africa. With a name-plate capacity of 100,000 tons,
AMCOL is the only integrated supplier of Hevi-Sandchromite sand,
which is utilized in steel-alloy and specialized ferrous
casting mold and core systems, among other specialty
applications. AMCOL has developed a proprietary production
process
that is capable of improving physical properties for foundry
grade chromite as well as tailoring particle size distribution.

many years, this new mining and production capability
will bring product quality, supply, and customer service to
a new level. Chromite is a key ingredient in the production
of heavy iron and steel castings. AMCOL is a leading
supplier of bentonite and chromite sand to foundries
around the world.

Major emphasis is placed on new market opportunities,
continuous quality improvement and research and

Products
Additrolis a custom additive blend of western and/or southern
bentonites and organic additives to meet the needs of both
ferrous and non-ferrous casting producers.
Volclayis a high-quality natural sodium bentonite recognized by
the world over as the metalcasting standard, used exclusively
for iron and steel casting production in green sand molding and
for non-ferrous production where extra duty is required.
Panther Creekis a high-quality natural (calcium) betonite used
for green sand molding.
Hevi-Sand(chromite sand) prevents metal penetration and can be
used with most foundry binders in molds and cores.
LovoxBinder Systemsare mineral based urethane sand binders. The
removal of the phenol formaldehyde and aromatic
solvents in the Part 1 and 2 resins yield mold and core binder
systems that feature very low odor at mixing, significantly
reduced VOC and HAP emissions, very good thermal stability, and
excellent shake-out properties.
Cellflo(cellulose) improves flowability and shakeout of sand
mixtures.
Flo-Carbis a clean-burning carbonaceous material with low
emissions and low smoke evolution.
Reeli-Kleanand Maxifluxare two lines of high-performance melt
treatments for aluminum, copper, zinc and other non-
ferrous alloys.
Ferro-Alloy Bricks and Briquettesare available as standard
Ferrosilicon (40%, 45%, 50% grades), Ferromanganese (66%),
and Silicon Carbide 36%, 65% grades). Variations on these
standard grades may be produced by request. Carsil products
are custom formulated blends designed to meet specific
operational needs.
GFN-1 and RNC Fluxes are specialty ladle fluxes used for slag
and inclusion control in gray and ductile iron.
