The winners of the Autumn Term Jack Petchey Award

were: Grace Gunn, Josie Hedges and Alex Green.

The pupils were nominated by staff and pupils,

principally for their commitment to educational studies

and extra-curricular activities, but also for the fact that

they are excellent role models to their peers.

The pupils were awarded £200 each to buy equipment

and resources for a subject department of their choice.

Grace has given her winnings to the P.E Department to

buy new netball dresses for the team; Josie has donated

her winnings to Dance and Drama who have purchased

CD players and leotards; and Alex has split his money

between DT and Dance to buy new tools and costumes.

The three pupils will attend a regional awards ceremony

in May to receive their gold medallion from the Jack

Petchey organisers.

On Monday 17th November, Year 7 pupils visited the

Eastwood Baptist Church as part of a project where

they had to design a church that could accommodate all

denominations of Christianity.

Pupils had the opportunity to look around the church,

learn about its history and how it differs from other

denominations. Pupils also took part in an open question

and answer session where they had the opportunity to

ask anything that would help them with their design and/

or understanding of a Christian church.

A huge thank you to Rev. D. Pike at the Eastwood

Baptist Church.
