Message from the Chancellor
Dr. Pranav PandyaChancellor, Dev Sanskriti VishwavidyalayaHead, All World Gayatri Pariwar
Dear Students,
I would like to express my appreciation for your interest in the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV).
Should you be accepted to attend, I believe it would result in a dramatic and auspicious change in the direction
of your life, and after graduation, you would have every reason to believe that, as an important member of
society, your contribution to the world’s cultural renaissance will be vital and with an identity all its own. The
society at large is eager to welcome the inspired social servants who bear insignia of this university of
excellence.
Unfortunately today, education is increasingly being seen as a way for students to increase their earning
potential. I believe this development reflects a one-sided and incomplete understanding of the true purpose of
education. The primary aim of fostering in the student, a multi-dimensional personality equipped to face the
challenges of practical life, and the cultivation of the hidden qualities and potentialities in the student, has been
all but abandoned completely.
This is absolutely not the case at the DSVV. Here the goal of applying the ancestral wisdom of India for the
purpose of developing each student into a great and noble citizen, who is prepared to contribute and serve the
society; is our primary focus. In this regard, the DSVV is a magnificent and unique creation. It is truly the
manifestation of a divine plan of the almighty God, executed through the Sage, Saint and Seer, Pt. Shriram
Sharma Acharya. Throughout his life, he was guided to pursue a vision of reviving the ancient Rishi traditions
and to re-establish and uplift the current deteriorating state of Indian culture. DSVV is a crucial component of
this divine plan.
Whether or not you decide to apply for admission to the DSVV, allow me to say that if you can extract yourself
from the attractions and illusions of the “earn and consume” mentality, it will be a step that bodes extremely well
for both your future happiness and for the contributions to society that you will go on to make.
Please allow me to commend you for considering this path.

DSVV's greatest strength lies in the unique vision of its patron visionary, Yugrishi Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya; under whose aegis Science and Spirituality has been brought
under one roof. The volunteer based model brings in a value based environment for teaching, learning, research and all other activities. DSVV offers it's learners a home away from
home where students and faculty members learn and grow together. The residential campus at the foothills of Himalayas and lap of Ganga presents a serene environment for holistic
development of personality.
Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (University) was established in 2002 in Haridwar, Uttarakhand at the foothills of the Himalayas in the vicinity of the holy Ganges. Surrounded by lush
Himalayan vegetation, the campus is spread over 76 acres of land and is equipped with an excellent infrastructure and dedicated faculty, staff and knowledge-seeking students. The
university is duly recognized by the University Grants Commission New Delhi, certified by ISO, accredited by NAAC and is privately financed by Shri Vedmata Gayatri Trust,
Shantikunj, a renowned socio-spiritual organization.
The University was established to meet the pressing need of a high quality educational system based on scientific spirituality and grounded in a spiritual life style. Cultivating a
culture of ethical, moral and spiritual transformation of youth is DSVV's first priority. Excellence in character, indomitable courage, firm determination and an intense love for labor are
the traits of our students. Born out of the vision of Patron founder Yugrishi Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, we focus on the confluence of modern education with instilling human
values. Molded in spiritual environment, in this fully residential university, several curricula have been started that are based upon the basic elements of Indian Culture. In a short
time, this university has achieved many accolades not only in India but also in abroad. A large number of MoUs have been signed with various national and International
organizations by the university in the field of research and student & faculty exchange programs.
Along with an excellent domain focused approach, sectoral excellence and a widely knitted outreach connect, we try to build individuals with Spirituality as their locus of control and
help them excel holistically through our meticulously designed curriculums and dedicated faculty. The combination of traditional gurukul style of teaching with most modern curricula
leads to holistic development of students. The university today, hosts students from all states of India along with those from several other countries like Korea, Japan, Iran, Malaysia,
China, Russia, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Taiwan, Czech Republic, USA, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan etc. Within a short span of time since its inception in 2002, the
University has taken rapid strides towards achieving its goals by imparting Contemporary Education (Shiksha) with Spiritual Wisdom (Vidya).

Parent Institution: Shantikunj - Headquarter All World Gayatri Pariwar ,
Shantikunj was founded by the Saint-Scholar-Philosopher par excellence, Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, who in his youth was also a celebrated freedom fighter. Shantikunj
has emerged over the years as a unique center and fountain-head of a global movement of Yug Nirman Yojna (Movement for the Reconstruction of the Era) for moral-spiritual
regeneration in the light of hoary Indian heritage. It is the head-quarter of Yug Nirman Yojna of the All World Gayatri Pariwar, which has a following of more than ninety million
individuals all over the world. Through the Seer-Vision of the Yug-Rishi (Saint of the Era), the founder, organizer and patron (who was born on 20th September 1911 in the village Anwalkhera, Agra, (U.P.) INDIA),
Shantikunj has grown into a spiritual academy of moral, ethical and spiritual awakening of the masses in India carrying the seer-vision of Acharyashri with the message of love,
peace, understanding and unity-in-diversity to all corners of the globe. The gist of Yugrishi's message is the lighting up of human consciousness to a higher and nobler realm of light,
love and life instincts with divine harmony and joy. Vandaniyaa (Revered) Mata Bhagvati Devi Sharma, has been the foremost collaborator and disciple of Gurudev. She contributed
the most in giving concrete shape to the ideals and dreams of Pujya Gurudev. The smooth working of this vast organization is based on voluntary contribution of one rupee, one
handful of grain and one hour daily for mission work by millions of its devotees.
Shantikunj is devoted to cultural, ethical, moral and spiritual awakening and national integration. Development of divinity in mankind is the foremost goal and avowed objective.
Pledged for national peace, prosperity, amity, love, goodwill and fraternity irrespective of region, religion, faith, caste, creed, sect etc., Shantikunj is a unique abode true to its name.
Visitors of all faiths & linkages are glued to the Ashram (Spiritual Center), when they visit and view its peace & fraternal treatment. The courteous ovation and pleasing treatment add
glory to the solemn attraction and the visitor wishes to come here again. Expansion of national unity, amity and brotherhood and extinction of ignorance, jealousy, hatred, and strife
from globe are being attempted at Shantikunj by popularizing Gayatri Mantra, Yagna and Sanskaars (sacramental rites), the adoption of which invokes celestial thoughts and
inspires for divine deeds. The divinity may be seen firmly fixed in every activity of this holy pilgrimage center.

A Visionary’s Dream: Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya
Fifty years ago, Kulpita Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya (1911-1990), scholar-saint and founder of the All
World Gayatri Pariwar, dreamt of a unique university that could combine the precepts of practical knowledge
(shiksha) and spiritual education (vidya) to create truly enlightened students. The well rounded and dynamic
students of university would channelize their efforts towards the goal of a divine, value based society. They
would follow a simple and spiritual lifestyle. They would also have both the benefits of state-of-the-art facilities
and the wisdom of ancient traditional practices.
The foundation was laid in 1999 under the flagship of the mother institution, Shantikunj. In the month of April,
2002, the vision became a reality, when the university was recognized by the University Grants Commission,
India. Now, this university has truly become the catalyst for spreading the divine culture, irrespective of caste,
creed, region and religion. Unlike most universities, DSVV caters to all aspects of its students' lives-academic,
cultural, social and spiritual. The ultimate objective of the students at DSVV is not to increase their financial
capacity but mould themselves into responsible citizens, who can contribute to the development of a just and
prosperous society. Students and teachers at DSVV are equally committed to this goal. Together, they pursue
innovative local solutions to problems of global scope and significance. By observing a healthy, simple lifestyle
with a focus on ancestral Indian cultural values, the students would maintain the vitality of the Vedic tradition.
yoga, yagya, collective prayer and meditation are integrated into their academic routine.
An Illustrious Establishment
The seeds of the university were sown when Kulmata, Bhagwati Devi Sharma (1926-1994) recognized the
divine samskaras (spiritual vibrations) of this place. Her Holiness Vandniya Mata ji felt the divine spiritual energy
of this awakened land during Shradhanjali Samaroh organized in 1990. Later on, this land was purchased. After rdthe Bhoomi Poojan on 23 May 1999, the construction work started and Dev Sanskriti Mahavidylaya came into
existence. The college gained the status of ‘Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya’ on the basis of an act (22.01.2002)
passed by state legislature and notified in the gazette vide notification no. (123/vidhayi & sansadiya karya/2002
dated 11-4-2002). The university is recognized by University Grant Commission, India under the 1956 act
section 2(F) and has also been duly certified by ISO 9001 : 2008 on 27.01.2014 and accredited by NAAC with 'B'
grade on 14.09.2015.
There is need for an educational institution which could mould its students into noble and enlightened human beings: selfless, warm-hearted, compassionate and kind.

One of the main goals of the university is to establish harmony between the two
schools of thought – science and spirituality. This leads to holistic development of life
because science enhances logical thinking while spirituality fills life with empathy and
emotions.
With these objectives in mind, the founding father, Vedamurti Taponishta Pandit
Shriram Sharma Acharya laid the foundation stone for Brahmavarchas Research
Institute near Shantikunj on the auspicious day of Gayatri Jayanti on 3rd June, 1979.
Electro- physiology chamber, Neurology chamber, Cardiology chamber, Biochemistry
chamber, Hematology chamber etc. have been established in the Brahmavarchas
Research Institute. Under the guidance of honourable chancellor Dr. Pranav Pandya,
a special department for scientific spirituality was opened in which research studies on
various topics of cosmology and geography were taken up and many of them continue
to be on the path of progress. The entire university campus has a well laid optical fiber
network and is connected by WiFi. On one side, there are classes on Bhagawad Gita
and meditation that create a spiritual atmosphere, while on the other side, there are
classes on Computer Technology, Animation and Environmental science that radiate
scientific atmosphere in the university campus. In addition to all these, the mammoth
machinery for astrological science and vedic school being developed at Aryabhat
bhavan are beautiful examples of harmonizing science and spirituality.
Integration of Science and Spirituality: Scientific Spirituality
Gyan Deeksha (Invocation)
Unique Features
A task that is well begun is already half done. What is the meaning of convocation
(Deekshant Samaroh) if there was no initiation to begin with? The university has
started a unique tradition of Gyan Deeksha (Invocation) before the beginning of any
course. Through this ceremony of Gyan Deeksha, the mind of the student is prepared
for receiving knowledge. The chancellor inspires the students to offer themselves to
the divine culture and gives them the university logo as a gift. This ceremony depicts
the greatness of Indian culture through programs by eminent talented people from all
over the country and delivers a message to the students. Until now, 28 Gyan Deeksha
ceremonies have taken place been conducted and were presided by eminent
personalities like Chairman of UGC, Governors, Chief Ministers, Chancellors of
various universities, Education minister and various spiritual dignitaries.

Special classes by the Chancellor
Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is one of those few institutes where the Chancellor
himself takes classes on a regular basis and justifies his title as the Paramacharya –
the Supreme teacher. The Honourable chancellor conducts a session on Bhagawad
Gita and meditation every week and it is attended by all students of the university with
great zeal. Only organized and controlled thinking can prevent the mind from
wandering away. Meditation sessions help to maintain the psychological well being of
the students and awaken the latent talent within them. The Honourable chancellor has
developed many types of meditation methods designed for specific purposes. Some of
important ones are – Meditation on the rising sun for building self-confidence,
uprooting the negative tendencies, meditating on the sun at the navel center and
meditation on AUM for realizing the absolute Truth.
The Revered chancellor has come up with a divine elixir that can transform the actions,
thoughts and personality through Gita. Weekly classes on Gita are the medium
through which this divine knowledge is imparted to the students. Through these
classes the chancellor inspires the students to face the challenges in the practical
world with zeal and confidence. Psychological aspects of Gita given through his
commentary are very unique. Through the medium of Bhagawad Gita, the chancellor
trains the students on Jnana, Karma and Bhakti yoga in a very practical manner. It is a
well-known fact that the chancellor has given discourses round the globe on various
aspects of Gita including corporate excellence, art of living and holistic approach to life,
among many others.
Life Management
Man's progress and destiny do completely dependens on how he manages his life.
Generally we take good care of organizing our education and other efforts, but fail to
organize our life. The necessity of life management is of great importance for the
generation of youth today who are faced with a deluge of problems. With this in mind,
life management is made a compulsory course for each student. The actual life style
led by the student is the criteria for scoring marks in that course. Under this course of
life management are topics like life style management, study management, time
management, stress management, relationship management, communication skills,
creative excellence, leadership development etc. The special 5-day camp of (Antah
urja satra) organized by the mother organization of the university, Shantikunj has
proven to be very useful in life management.
Spiritual Lifestyles: Daily routine
Spiritual lifestyle is a valuable identity of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya. All the
students and teachers voluntarily wake up at 5 AM and participate in activities like
prayer, meditation and yagya. At 6 o'clock in the evening, after all the classes are
completed, the melodious tunes of the flute fill the air, students sit down wherever they
are and participate in group meditation. The area around Pragyeshwar Mahadev built
of white marble is the center of attraction. Here, a huge Shiv ling obtained from
Godavari is installed. Smoking and consumption of alcohol or other drugs is
completely banned in the entire campus. The triveni of Yoga, Yagya and Meditation
bathes the students every day and their spiritual development is guaranteed naturally.
InternshipSamaydan (Time Donation)
Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is the unique center where the tradition of samaydan
by students, teachers and resourceful persons is carried on. In this university, all the
experienced, worthy and knowledgeable teachers work and teach for the betterment
of the world rather than for earning money. The social workers offer their services
voluntarily. With the sole aim of using the knowledge, experience and capabilities
developed over a life time to the benefit of society, they stay here and educate the
students.
In the same way, many successful students stay back and offer their services for a pre-
determined time with a view of paying back in kind to the university that provided them
with the subsidised education and facilities.
The internship in this university is also unique. After completing their education, the
students are expected to spend not less than two months of their time and efforts to
serve the society. In this duration, the students are sent to various parts of the country
using the network of Shantikunj. The students put to use the education and knowledge
they gained in the university to benefit the society. In return, they gain practical
experience which will help them in the future. During this internship, the students
conduct free camps of yoga, psycho counseling, accupressure in different parts of the
country. They also conduct Deep Yagya to establish harmony between various
religions. In addition, they conduct classes in various schools and colleges on various
topics including stress management, time management, ideal life style, guidance to
youth etc. This is probably the best way to repay the debt to the society. This
exceptional move of the university teaches the students their social responsibility and
an ability to bear the accountability.
The practice of Anshdaan entails a simple concept of the members of parent
organization of donating a minimal amount of money per day to provide necessary
financial support to the University. Many people pay about 10 paisa a day, making it 3
rupees a month, which is a negligible amount of money but when it is contributed by
more than 500000 volunteers of the organisation, it becomes a reasonable sum to
offer all the necessary support to the University and its extension activities.
