I am pleased to report that this week we held
our first Open Morning Tour, with Taryn and
Ms. Pia Pasternack (Admissions & Marketing),
welcoming six prospective parents to the
School. They were very ably assisted by five of
our Year 6 girls, who spoke with such passion,
knowledge and a sense of fun about their
School. After meeting these girls, we are sure
that these six families will be joining us in the
future.
Despite Taryn being out of school for the second
part of the week, we have had another full week
of successful Curriculum Meetings. Reception
and Nursery parents will receive a copy of the
PowerPoint Presentations in next Wednesday’s
MailOut.
We also commenced
our OUT THERE visits
to Regent’s Park this
week—in the sun-
shine, with Reception
and Year 1 classes covering topics such as
multiple team building activities, involving
number and mathematical reasoning.

Today we all
celebrated
EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGE in
our Whole School Assembly and
again when Years 1 to 3 were
involved in class projects celebrating the multi-
cultural nature of our school. A colourful array
of traditional costumes greeted us all in St.
Mary’s Hall.
Thank you to parents who sent in a donation, which contrib-
uted to fund raising for the Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee
Afternoon, organised by FOC’s as part of the national Coffee
Morning across the UK.
This was run in parallel with the Second Hand Uniform Sale. Many
thanks to the dedicated team of FOC parents, who spent many
hours this week sorting the supply of Second Hand Uniform and
manning the ‘shop’ this afternoon. We are sure that all parents find
this service incredibly helpful.
On Monday morning we
had a fire drill for the
whole school with an
impressive total school
evacuation in just 2
minutes and 27 seconds.
The bus service from
Islington continues to prove
very popular with the girls
and their parents; travelling
to school with friends is so
much fun!

from our IT Manager, Ryan Bunting, in the next few days.
MUSIC CLUBS AND ENSEMBLES We're delighted to announce that music ensembles and clubs have started up. Training Orchestra for Years 1 -3 will start on Tuesday at 8am, School Orchestra (for Years 4- 6) will be on Wednesday morning at 8am. Both will be in St Mary's Hall. There is some movement allowed between orchestras depending on ability and experience. All are welcome! Years 3 & 4 Chamber Choir will be on a Tuesday from 3.30-4pm and Years 5 & 6 Chamber Choir will be on Wednesday from 3.30-4pm. All are welcome to come. Chamber choir provides the girls with the opportunity of exploring more complex music and learning to sing harmonies in parts. If you'd like further information, please email [email protected]
Alice decided to hold a Yard sale on her front pavement, selling her old toys, books and clothes (and some random goods no longer needed) with 50% going to Macmillan. She repeated it the next day.
She did brilliantly! Confidently chatting with passers by, their families (and dogs!) convincing them that they really needed a puzzle, Bath toy…. Or a Soft toy for their pet (!) and raised £87.50 for Macmillan - and £87.50 for her savings account.

Visits
It is important to us that we understand the unique ethos of The Cavendish School so as to better recognise the
needs of your families. We would therefore welcome an opportunity to visit your school, meet some of your girls
and staff, and to find out what makes special!
Roedean would also like to offer you the opportunity to see our School truly in action, so that you can report back
to your families about the friendly, vibrant and dynamic atmosphere here at Roedean School.
If you would like a visit to Roedean – which would include a tour with some of our girls as well as a meeting with
the Headmaster, Oliver Blond – or feel that a visit to your school would be beneficial, please do let me know by re-
turn email and I would be delighted to begin making arrangements.
Experience Days – Year 6
This term, we have two Experience Days scheduled, which we invite your Year 6 girls to attend. We will be welcom-ing both whole cohorts from Prep schools, as well as individual bookings. Please do pass to your Head of Year 6, or be in touch with myself or Alexa Barlow, Registrar, [email protected], by return email if you would like to book girls on to one/both of the Experience Days outlined below. STEM Festival – 12th October – 09.30am
Roedean girls love STEM! This is a taster of the activities that have our girls hooked on Science, Technology, Engi-
neering and Maths, with a special virtual visit from Dr Suzie Imber, our STEM Ambassador and Professor of Space
Physics at Leicester University.
England Hockey – 4th November – 09.30am
This is a unique opportunity to attend a professional hockey masterclass led by an England Hockey player, training
and playing on Roedean’s all-weather hockey pitch. Our last Hockey Experience saw us welcome to Roedean Kate
Richardson-Walsh who was captain of the women’s England Hockey Squad for 13 years, captaining them to their
first Olympic Gold Medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics. You are welcome to send a full Hockey Squad, or individuals
with a passion for Hockey.
