    bass Coast

summer festivalBass Coast Project Ltd's founders An-

drea Graham & Liz Thomson presentedtheir company & summer electronic artsfestival to Merritt City Council this week. They said their event has outgrown itsprevious private campground site inSquamish, is moving onto the Mountain-fest site and will be held Aug 2-5, 2013.

The festival is a 3-day event that fea-tures 3 stages of groundbreaking elec-tronic and live music, performances, yoga, workshops, vendors, fashion show, music video contest, theme camps andart installations throughout the site.

Their vision is to promote, fund and ex-hibit the Arts Culture in BC, and for thefestival to become the leading boutiquefestival in North America.

They approached council for theirsupport, although did not ask for fund-ing as they operate without sponsorship,

but they'll require a special events permitfrom TNRD. Their policy is to sourcesuppliers, staff & vendors from the com-munity whenever possible. Last year, their festival contributed approx.$400,000 to Squamish's economy, andthey're looking for their event to growhere in the Nicola Valley.

The Bass Coast Summer Festival hasgrown from a small, carefully-plannedevent 3 years ago with less than 500 peoplein attendance, and organizers are forecast-ing 3000 attendees for this coming year,

and 4500 in 2014. It is a 19+ non-alcoholicevent. Theyll eventually be looking to buyland in the area for a permanent home.
