Mental Health and the LawThursday, May 21, 2015
Sheraton Ottawa Hotel150 Albert Street Ottawa, ON, K1P 5G2
The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) in conjunction with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, is pleased to offer this one-day conference to explore the key issues facing health care organizations in the area of mental health and the law.
The legislative and regulatory environment governing mental health in Ontario has evolved significantly in recent years. Health care practitioners are consistently faced with new and unique challenges in caring for patients with mental illness. Understanding a patient’s privacy, seeking rights advice, and ascertaining capacity, among others, makes mental illness and the law an increasingly complex area. This conference will provide health care practitioners with the most current information to assist in caring for their patients in a mental health context, and help build on the progress made in understanding the complex legal environment in which mental health care is provided.
Topics• Forensic mental health and the law: recent developments• Health Care Consent Act: current issues• Hot topics in mental health
Target AudienceThis event is for hospital and health care providers directly involved in mental health services and/or the law and who practice in the mental health care sector.
